The Schaudepot is the permanent home of the Wemhöner Collection in Herford, bringing together two interconnected buildings: a climate-controlled art storage facility and a flexible exhibition space, linked by a covered colonnade. Designed by Hilmes Lamprecht Architekten BDA.

The façades, clad in handmade bricks by the Danish brickworks Petersen Tegl, come alive through changing light, while the calm, minimalist interiors provide the perfect setting for contemporary art.

At CGAC in Santiago de Compostela, „Rumor“ offers the first museum survey of Alexandra Ranner’s work in Spain.
Drawing on the visual language of Renaissance and Baroque painting while embracing humour, irony and the absurd, Ranner creates enigmatic worlds of human and animal figures, landscapes and architecture. Her works move between solitude and tenderness, inviting viewers to reflect on the fragility and contradictions of contemporary life.
Among the works on view are loans from the Wemhöner Collection: Black Octopus (2023), Standing Man (2023) and the video work Ich habe genug (2005/2014). 📷 Eric Tschernow

Hasenheide 13 | Site Update - Another milestone.
The screed has now been poured in both the former ballroom and the lower ground floor. Step by step, Hasenheide 13 is taking shape.
We are grateful to everyone on site whose dedication and craftsmanship have kept the project moving forward despite the intense summer heat!
To our future guests, thank you for your patience—we can’t wait to welcome you and hope to open our doors later this year.

Sammlung Wemhöner recommends - In Midnight Zone, a major solo exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, Julian Charrière explores the hidden worlds of the deep sea. Bringing together deep-sea environments, glacier landscapes and fragile ecosystems, the exhibition reflects on water as the source of life, a vital resource with ecological and political implications.
Known for works that combine art, research and fieldwork, Julian Charrière—also represented in the Wemhöner Collection—offers new perspectives on our relationship with nature and the geological timescales of the Earth.
His work is currently also featured in Spiral Economy. Charrière and Canova at the Museo Correr in Venice.

Long before the transformation of Hasenheide 13 began, these linden trees shaped the character of the garden. Soon, new pathways and planting by Wirtz International will welcome visitors and guide them towards the pavilions conceived by David Chipperfield Architects — while the trees remain a living link between the site’s past and future.

A beautiful coincidence.
While browsing through „Japandi Living“ by Laila Rietbergen, we unexpectedly came across Hasenheide 13 — a publication created by Sammlung Wemhöner and Neue Gestaltung in 2020. Seeing the book appear among international references for architecture, interiors and contemporary living felt especially meaningful. Not only because it continues to find new audiences, but also because the story of Hasenheide 13 is about to enter its next chapter.
Later this year, the building will open as a new space for art and culture in Berlin — transforming a place with a remarkable history into a platform for exhibitions, encounters and exchange.

This discovery by felt like a wonderful reminder that some projects continue to grow long after publication. Books travel, ideas evolve, and sometimes they return at exactly the right moment.
