why?…

The phrase „burn the ships“ comes from the story of Hernan Cortés.
When Cortes arrived in Mexico with his men, many of them wanted to go back.
The land was unknown. The risk was high. Retreat felt safer.

So he ordered the ships destroyed, so no one could return.
There was no backup plan.

No way out.
Only one direction: forward.

That’s why the phrase still exists today.

Burning the ships means wanting something so badly, being so sure it will happen, that you’re willing to go for it with everything you’ve got.
