Please join us tomorrow, June 22, in our Seoul gallery for the opening of Ad Minoliti’s solo exhibition 'Geometries of the Forest'.
In ‘Geometries of the Forest’, Ad Minoliti absorbs the ecological imagery of the forest into their own geometrical abstraction to describe a relational world. At times irregularly shaped, their canvases are playful and color-rich, intersecting precise geometric forms in contrasting palettes to create larger formations that evade categorization. In this ambiguity lies Minoliti’s intention to question our normative conceptions of identity.

Peres Projects is pleased to present 'The Garden Dies with the Gardener', Anton Munar’s (b. 1997 in Copenhagen, DK) debut solo exhibition with Peres Projects and his first in Berlin.
Thoughtful about the physicality of his works, Munar plays with a wide range of materials encompassing oil, distemper, gouache, ink, charcoal, chalk, pastel, and pigments, that he combines in varied mixtures to be applied either to canvas, linen, or wood, often borrowed from pieces of furniture such as found drawers. Through these rich layers of paint, he builds up evocative compositions at the confluence of fragmented narratives drawn from the driving force of love, where interior and exterior spaces intertwine and where phantasmagoric visions infiltrate the physical world.

Peres Projects is pleased to present A Past That Is Future Tense, an exhibition of new sculptures by American artist Kiyan Williams (b. 1991 in Newark, New Jersey, US). This marks the artist’s first solo exhibition with the gallery in Milan.
In this new body of work Williams examines the lives of objects, reviving subterranean and obscured meanings through appropriating and transforming the architectural forms and national symbols that structure dominant narratives of history and power. Williams develops their work by way of an object-oriented ontology that recognizes the essential dynamism of material entities. Their new works blend together gypsum plaster, chrome, and earth, expanding a visual language of ruination that collapses linear time.

One week left to visit Donna Huanca’s exhibition 'BLISS POOL', Curated by Sahim Annette Shin, on view at Space K, Seoul!
At the heart of Donna Huanca’s work is an engagement with the cycles of life and passing of time. In her practice, each work of art leads into the next as she incorporates previous works into new ones, fusing mediums and temporalities.
As Huanca recycles the remains of past performances into her painted work she mirrors the cyclic processes of nature, creating a symbiotic relationship where her earlier pieces directly influence her current work.
'BLISS POOL' (2023), a series of sixteen new paintings, is displayed on the wide, curving walls of Space K and reflected in Huanca’s mirrored sculptures, thus unfolding a kaleidoscopic experience of the exhibition.
Comprised of painting, sculpture, sound and scent, and combining natural raw materials such as clay, pigment, and sand, with man-made ones such as plastic and textiles, 'BLISS POOL' embodies Huanca’s deep connection to the fundamentals of humans and nature.
Closing on June 8, 2023.

Peres Projects is pleased to announce Rebecca Ackroyd’s upcoming institutional solo exhibition at the Musée d’art Contemporain de Lyon in France.
“Shutter Speed“ opens at the Musée d’art Contemporain de Lyon in September and is her first solo exhibition in France. Curated by Matthieu Lelièvre, the exhibition is based around the work “Singed Lids”, which was created specifically for the 15th Lyon Biennale and has since entered the macLYON permanent collection. A set of new works by the artist completes the exhibition. Opening on September 22, 2023 “Shutter Speed“ will run until January 7, 2024.
Rebecca Ackroyd’s practice assembles painting and sculptural works into dream-like landscapes, often populated by ambiguously gendered figures in varying states of repose. Her work stages encounters with ubiquitous, innocuous objects that are steeped with a sense of the uncanny, in order to excavate our cultural memory and explore how meaning is made.

“When I look at the volume of work I’ve created, it’s like a mix of something quite exciting but also something unsettling. I think more and more there are details coming into my painting which are more autobiographical. And a lot of the people I’m painting now are more ambiguous. It’s just exciting to see where it goes. But it’s slowly evolving into something.”
