In Summer 2011, I booked a six week tour of Europe with Matty .

Strangely, two ☀🌠 heralded our arrival in each new city. The exact same omens each time. By the time we got to , we realised it was a pattern.

We seemed, each time, to bring The Good Weather. ☀ We started to believe we were magical.

But each time, our arrival was accompanied, eerily and unfailingly, with the melancholy strains of an old song 🌠. Played on .

If I could whistle, I would whistle you the melody and you would feel its chilly 🌠 prescience creep into your bones.

Each new city, all over Europe, a panflute busker. We could not be absolutely certain, but it may have been the 🌠 same man each time, and it was *always the same song*. 🌠

take me to the magic of that strangely repeating moment. All the glory nights. Here's Matty and I outside Helsinki's legendary with our names pleasingly up in lights.

Total when Wasp Summer played the old in . The wild Chinese Restaurant-slash-Western Saloon vibes always provoked a little rock 'n' roll theatre in me.

Also, they were one of the few places to do a no-questions-asked guarantee, which was great when I was booking touring bands.

I miss Melbourne parties where guests really go all out with their costumes. Unless it's **sh or , doesn't often do . Actually, I just miss parties.

I went to this incredible Melbourne party dressed as a Not-Very-Grieving Widow in a headpiece and veil. You can see a joyous in the background.

PREVIEW of online with DDT's Damian Stephens, amazing . Find him on Insta

We wanted to explore how relationships in #2020 are filtered through compression, distortion and internet signal. We appear to each other as grainier, reduced versions of ourselves, details removed or smoothed away. We're under trying to connect.

Damian got great from shooting various screens including this vamp shot in which I'm wearing a shell pink silk jacket and a gorgeous bra.

The challenging part of this shoot for me was being Damian's technical assistant while being in the performance.

He directed me to set up and adjust my own lighting, and, for an hour, had to hold my phone over my head for shots while remaining very still.

It's 03:30 and a very tired Wasp in Berlin just finished a fascinating online with one of my favourite people (and artists) 10 hours in the in .

I wanted to explore how, in lockdown, many of our relationships are mediated as , distorting us through image decay, lending us new , and making our read differently.

As our image changes, so does the relationship. When we can screenshot or record a fleeting conversation, what is and what is ?

I can't wait to show you what the art for the album will look like!!!!

Here's a couple of photos I found from the recording of the first album, Close As a Slow Dance, during an incredibly hot week in in August 2011.

The album's inspired producer Henry Hugo borrowed his friend's house for a week in exchange for us feeding their 15 cats while they went on holiday and we filled it with music, musicians, food and good vibes.

I remember this as one of the best and most creative weeks I've ever had, with amazing, generous musicians Tony Kaldo and Fabio Federico Gallarati breathing life into my songs. Fabio also showed me how to make pasta, and the was as good as the music.

The long hair is long gone, but I'm happy to say I'm still rocking my jacket many years later.

This was taken at Bar Open during a Melbourne Fringe performance sometime between 2005 and 2007.

My old band created three full-length shows together with Sean M Whelan and, for the final one, Emilie Zoey Baker, quite uniquely soundtracking Sean and Emilie's magical with our dreamy .

As it happens, I repurposed a line I wrote for one of the pieces in this show and it's now the song Riding Down The Moon which you'll hear on my upcoming Mitropa album.

Which of show and which year this photo is from was, I cannot now say, but in 2014, we were asked to reform and play a live show to be recorded and released by Australian literary journal Going Down Swinging. I'm so pleased that such a document of the beautiful work we made exists. You can hear our reunion show at the following link:
