These drawing sessions are focused on movements and gestures: the concept is of the performer and model Irene Graziadei, who works with weekly changing topics to be always new inspired and show all kinds of body-movements, expressions and mimics. It is a prepared mise-en-scène for life-sketchers. Of course doing that requires renouncing to the usual long relaxed poses: Irene holds her movements for maximum 5 minutes. A short time for the sketchers to grasp a pose. The concentration is high. The sketches are lively. Fun is assured. But a bit of frustration is also part of it: if you take part at these sessions, please don’t come with the purpose of doing nice finished drawings to hang in your living room - though some of these short sketches are actually really good: it’s a matter of practice! - The aims here are others: making studies of a moving figure (which you can eventually use as a reference for further work at home), practicing to catch the essential traits in what you see and just become a very good life-sketcher, doing more narrative drawings, and last but not least: having a unique visual experience of the moving body.
What are you waiting for? Give it a try!
