mEat me – Food for the Post-Anthropcene: on Body-Hacking and the De-centering of the Human as Material
Online lecture by Theresa Schubert.
The lecture will be held in English on Zoom. Please register for the event, as the number of participants is limited. Kleine Humboldt Galerie
Many posthumanist thinkers stress a non-human-centered perspective on the world, demanding that we should assume a more modest role in our dealings with nature and stop hierarchizing other species. For artist Theresa Schubert, a radical consequence of considering the human as an animal would be to also consider the human as material and food. In her project mEat me (2020), she demonstrates that this provocation is neither science fiction nor morbid dystopia by fearlessly exploiting her own body as a ground for experimentation. In this lecture, Schubert introduces her artistic research project discussing backgrounds, concepts, the lab process, and collaboration with scientists, as well as the resulting multimedia performance mEat me.

Events by König Galerie, STATE Studio, HAZE Gallery, Kleine Humboldt Galerie,
Kleine Humboldt Galerie is launching an OPEN CALL for the new project KONTINUUM. Something between Archive and Project Space. Through KONTINUUM we want to counteract the standstill of time and regain visibility together with artists and people working in the cultural sector.
How do we perceive the present times as well as their challenges? How do we experience isolation and restrictions? And how are we able to socialise despite all circumstances? How can we develop a network, in which we are able to create a space for subjective perceptions?
This open call is addressed to artists who would like to share their views and working processes against the background of the pandemic or relate to digitalisation and isolation within their work. Artworks, as well as text works and sounds which deal with the current situation or which are connected to the issue in a broader sense, are welcome for submission. Moreover, we want to enable live formats via Instagram – we are looking forward to your ideas and concepts for live performances, studio visits, and podcasts.
KONTINUUM is a growing platform which you can access through somethingbetween.org. Together, we are aiming to collect impressions between May and August and create this collection in a vibrant and open way. We want to hear your voices, listen to your sounds, read your texts and we are already excited to share them!
Within the scope of this project, Kleine Humboldt Galerie provides a platform for coming together and exchanging thoughts. For this purpose, we offer extensive public relation. As we are an independent and non-profit project space, we are not able to refund any expenses (such as fees, insurance or production costs).
Please send an E-Mail containing the following information to
[email protected]:
- first name and surname
- description of your contribution or idea for a live format with reference to the current situation and/or to the themes
»isolation and the importance of digitalisation«, maximum of 300 words,
PDF file
- if applicable, a website-link
The entry period ends on 25 May 2020.
All entries can be submitted in English or German.
