KPMG Berlin
A sculptural, light-filled office building by KSP Engel Architekten, shaping the new Europacity district next to Berlin Hauptbahnhof. Its façade of natural limestone, vertical fins, and softly rounded corners creates a timeless, refined presence, especially striking at night.

Designed with sustainability in mind: only 60% glazing for better energy performance, a back-ventilated stone façade, regional materials, and support for green mobility with EV chargers and generous bike parking. The result is architecture that blends elegance, efficiency, and longevity
A building designed to stand the test of time.

🧱 Brutalist Beauty

Nestled in Berlin-Lichterfelde, the Institut für Hygiene und Umweltmedizin stands as a testament to post-war modernism. Designed by architects Hermann Fehling and Daniel Gogel, this structure, completed in 1974, showcases the raw elegance of Brutalist architecture. Its distinctive form, characterized by staggered volumes and exposed concrete surfaces, reflects a commitment to both function and form. The building's unique design elements, including its prominent ventilation shafts and textured facades, have earned it recognition and protection as a historical monument since 2021.

Featured building:

Bülowstraße U-Bahn station, located in Berlin's Schöneberg district, is a historic elevated station on the U2 line. Opened on March 11, 1902, it was part of Berlin's first U-Bahn line, the Stammstrecke. The station is named after the adjacent Bülowstraße, which honors Prussian General Friedrich Wilhelm Freiherr von Bülow.

Designed by architect Bruno Möhring, Bülowstraße station showcases the Art Nouveau style, evident in its ornate ironwork and decorative elements. In 1929, Möhring's son, Rudolf, expanded the station hall to accommodate increasing passenger numbers.

During World War II, the station suffered significant damage from air raids in 1943 and 1944. After the war, it was rebuilt, but operations ceased in 1972 due to the Berlin Wall's impact on the U2 line. During its closure, the station hosted a bazaar in discarded U-Bahn cars, serving as a cultural hub for the Turkish community in West Berlin. Following German reunification, Bülowstraße station reopened in 1993, reconnecting the eastern and western parts of the U2 line.

Today, Bülowstraße station stands as a testament to Berlin's rich history and architectural heritage, blending Art Nouveau design with the city's dynamic past.
