EN: Projects presented at kma71 place the spotlight on the production side of creation. Engaging with “the contemporary” at kma71 illuminates what it means to continue working as an artist, designer or creative entrepreneur in the ever-more regulated field of aesthetics. kma71 runs for a year. Each show, and the processes leading to it, will be documented in form of a brochure that will be made available after the project’s completion.

What started as two unrelated ideas (for a seminar and an exhibition), became an adventure in curating and education which brought together students and teachers at Folkwang University of the Arts and Free University Berlin in 2018, and resulted in a curatorial lab in Berlin (kma71's third installment titled "Hollis Frampton lab", detail pictured), a museum show in Essen ("Hollis Frampton: ADSVMVS ABSVMVS, In memory of Hollis William Frampton, Sr., 1913 – 1980, abest" curated by Anne Breimaier and Matthias Gründig for UG im Folkwang, Museum Folkwang) and a publication (Anne Breimaier, Matthias Gründig (Eds.): Hollis Frampton: ADSVMVS ABSVMVS, In memory of Hollis William Frampton, Sr., 1913 – 1980, abest, Folkwang Edition, Essen (in preparation for 2020)). I am very honoured, grateful and proud for the opportunity to present our collaborative projects on Frampton's AA in Berlin and Essen on the panel "Frampton comes Alive: Hollis Frampton and the History of Art" at CAA Chicago on February 13, 2020. The panel is chaired by Bruce Jenkins, and will see presentations by much admired Frampton experts Ken Eisenstein (Bucknell University), Giles Simon Fielke (University of Melbourne), Alice K. Lyons (Yeats Academy of Art, Design & Architecture), Mike Zryd (York University), and Lisa Marie Zaher (School of the Art Institute of Chicago).

May 1, 1969: Fred Rogers testifies before the Senate Subcommittee on Communications

As part of the many discussions that take place in the framework of "Capitalism By Heather Klar" at kma71 (running until June 29th 2018 and open from Tue - Sat, 2 - 8 pm), Heather Klar told me about Fred Rogers and his program for children on public television called "Mr. Rogers' Neighbourhood" she watched as a child in the US. In this video Fred Rogers explains his program in front of the Senate to ask for funding, and it is the most touching and contemporary relevant piece of history I have seen for a long time. Enjoy and tear up and have a good week you all! xx

On May 1, 1969, Fred Rogers, host of the (then) recently nationally syndicated children's television series, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood (named Misterogers' ...

On the occasion of Installment #7: Capitalism By Heather Klar kma71editions is very proud to present our latest edition: Eric Kruszewski, Davis Carnival, 2012. The photograph is exhibited in Heather Klar’s show @kma71berlin. The photograph is exclusively sold until June 28th 2018 in an edition of 5 + 2 artist’s proofs and the size of 12 x 18 inches (appr. 30,48 cm x 45,72 cm) for 800€ including VAT (19%) and excluding framing and shipping (provided upon demand). About the photograph, as quoted from the artist’s website (https://www.erickruszewski.com): For more than 100 years, traveling carnivals have roamed the American landscape and entertained people from all walks of life. Davis Amusement, which has been in the carnival business since 1947, is based in Nevada, but in the summer months, the carnival plays throughout Oregon, Washington and Montana. The workers who make everything possible are usually overlooked by society and seen in a negative light.“ About Eric Kruszewski: He is an editorial photographer and videographer based in Washington, D.C. Awards he won include: National Geographic, Lucie Awards, and International Photo Awards, amongst others. His work is represented in the collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art, Carnegie Hall (NYC) and the Royal Geographical Society (London). #erickruszewski #photography #heatherklar #edition #daviscarnival #oregon #washington #montana #kma71editions #kma71 #kma71berlin #nationalgeographic #lucyawards #internationalphotographyawards #baltimoremuseumofart #carnegiehall #theroyalgeographicalsociety #london #berlin

Morgan O‘Hara, whose performative drawings are currently exhibited at Chimera-Project Gallery in Budapest, invites you to join her and her associates for one of her ‚handwriting the constitution sessions‘ at the Public Library in New York on Wednesday, May 16th. Conceived as a silent protest which addresses the doings of the current administration of the United States of America, Morgan‘s handwriting sessions, in which participants copy the text of the American constitution by hand, are also a lesson in the meditative powers of writing as a practice of inscribing oneself into the world. #morganohara #handwritingtheconstitution #publiclibrarynyc #publiclibrarynewyork #performance #silentprotest #kma71 #kma71berlin
