What started as two unrelated ideas (for a seminar and an exhibition), became an adventure in curating and education which brought together students and teachers at Folkwang University of the Arts and Free University Berlin in 2018, and resulted in a curatorial lab in Berlin (kma71's third installment titled "Hollis Frampton lab", detail pictured), a museum show in Essen ("Hollis Frampton: ADSVMVS ABSVMVS, In memory of Hollis William Frampton, Sr., 1913 – 1980, abest" curated by Anne Breimaier and Matthias Gründig for UG im Folkwang, Museum Folkwang) and a publication (Anne Breimaier, Matthias Gründig (Eds.): Hollis Frampton: ADSVMVS ABSVMVS, In memory of Hollis William Frampton, Sr., 1913 – 1980, abest, Folkwang Edition, Essen (in preparation for 2020)). I am very honoured, grateful and proud for the opportunity to present our collaborative projects on Frampton's AA in Berlin and Essen on the panel "Frampton comes Alive: Hollis Frampton and the History of Art" at CAA Chicago on February 13, 2020. The panel is chaired by Bruce Jenkins, and will see presentations by much admired Frampton experts Ken Eisenstein (Bucknell University), Giles Simon Fielke (University of Melbourne), Alice K. Lyons (Yeats Academy of Art, Design & Architecture), Mike Zryd (York University), and Lisa Marie Zaher (School of the Art Institute of Chicago).
