As part of FEMMELY AFFAIR's talk formats, United We Stream presented during the International Womxs Day an interview between Katharin Ahrend from United We Stream and Lewamm Ghebremariam from BRENN. collective and Change.org.
They talked about women's solidarity, sisterhood, moments that can hold us back from supporting each other, and how we can make space for each other in the context of club culture, activism, and cultural management.

We’ve known Yha Yha for a little while now and have always been in awe of her taste and sensibility in everything from music to style. She exudes a mesmerizing & intoxicating charisma, which is also very evident in her music.💚💫
Yha Yha’s eclectic style will send your body moving, crossing genre planes and mixing up everything from atmospheric techno to bass to vogue beats to uplifting house. While her roots as a DJ go back to San Francisco's bay area in 2016 (where she co-founded one of CB’s fav collectives New World Dysorder with Jasmine Infiniti and Cali Rose - who both played the very first CB livestream event btw), her bold emergence in Berlin has made her a standout figure in the underground nightlife scene, with INDIE Magazine donning her as ‘Berlin’s sweetheart” in 2019. She has frequented the decks for parties such as Room for Resistance, BRENN. , Buttons , Mess various magazine launches (Indie Mag, Yeoja), branded events (Absolute vodka, Beats by Dre, Isla Nails) and most recently WHOLE - United Q***r Festival 💚🔥💚
What really got our attention though was her recent mix for (sound on to hear a snippet), a brooding, sexy odyssey from slow burning electro to fast paced c*nty techno. We were so enamored by this mix, we asked her to play Community Bread V: Josey Rebelle, Seth Troxler, D.Dan, Rachel Noon & more upon the first listen. Katharin Ahrend from United We Stream and Lewamm Ghebremariam from BRENN. and Change.org, are going to talk about women's solidarity, sisterhood, moments that can hold us back from supporting each other, and how we can make space for each other in the context of club culture, activism, and cultural management.
Katharin has been part of the United We Stream team from the very beginning. Her main activities there include the development of awareness and safety guidelines for the project and the platform as well as diversity-sensitive and inclusive program work. The aim is always to create spaces and platforms that promote exchange and dismantling of borders and prejudices.
Lewamm “Lu” Ghebremariam is a Senior Campaign Strategist for the petition platform Change.org Germany. Since 2018, she has been supporting and advising activists with her marketing and strategy expertise making national and international headlines. Lewamm is an honorary board member of the Berlin Clubcommission. Focusing on awareness, a low-discriminatory, diverse and sustainable club culture.

Die Mitglieder der Clubcommission e.V., dem Netzwerk für Berliner Clubkultur, votierten am vergangenen Donnerstag für einen neuen Vorstand.
Der Verein setzt sich seit knapp 20 Jahren für die Förderung und nachhaltige Bewahrung seiner kulturellen Sparte ein und sieht sich als Vermittler zu öffentlichen Institutionen, Verbänden und Initiativen aus anderen kulturellen Feldern, sowie der Politik und der Stadtgesellschaft. Bloomberg CityLab bezeichnete den Verein dieses Jahr als „die einflussreichste lokale Interessensvertretung des Nachtlebens der Welt“ („the world’s most influential city nightlife advocacy group").
Als Vorsitzende bestätigten die Mitglieder des Verbands wieder Pamela Schobeß, die Betreiberin des Club GRETCHEN in Kreuzberg. Zweiter Vorsitzender wurde erneut Sascha Disselkamp, Betreiber der Sage Club, sowie der Diskothek Melancholie 2 und Fiese Remise. Alter und neuer Schatzmeister ist Marcel Weber vom SchwuZ. Bestätigt im Amt wurde auch Pressesprecher Lutz Leichsenring (VibeLab).
Neue Gesichter im Erweiterten Vorstand
Auf elf Plätze im Erweiterten Vorstand bewarben sich 28 Kandidat*innen. Gewählt wurden erneut Lewamm 'Lu' Ghebremariam (Veranstalterin BRENN., change.org), Anna Harnes (1. Vorsitzende United We Stream e.V.), Ipek ipekcioglu (Gayhane, Kuratorin MyFest), Daniel Plasch (ex-Geyer Studios, ex-Stattbad Wedding) und Angela Volz (Rummels Bucht, Bucht der Träumer). Neu gewählt wurden Nicole Erfurth (Kulturmanagerin), Sebastian Riedel (Ritter Butzke), Robin Schellenberg (Klunkerkranich), Philipp Schindler (YAAM Berlin e.V.) Elisabeth Steffen (
://about party) und Marc Wohlrabe (Stadt Nach Acht, Live DMA).
Besonderen Dank gilt den aus dem Vorstand ausgeschiedenen Mitgliedern, die in Arbeitskreisen und Projekten einen wertvollen Beitrag im Ehrenamt geleistet haben: Alexander Dettke (Wilde Möhre Festival, Zum Schwalbenschwanz), Larissa Krause (Bucht der Träumer), Thomas Lehnen (Aktivist), Steffen Schulz (James June, Alte Münze Berlin) und Jakob Turtur (Jonny Knüppel Kollektiv).
Über die Clubcommission:
Die ClubCommission Berlin e.V. ist mit 300 Mitgliedern die weltweit erste und größte regionale Vereinigung von Club-, OpenAir-, Festival- und Kultureventveranstalter*innen. Seit dem Jahr 2001 leistet der Verein Clubs und Veranstalter*innen Hilfestellung bei akuten Problemen, bietet ein spezialisiertes und erfahrenes Netzwerk über die Grenzen Berlins hinaus, führt branchenspezifische Weiterbildungen sowie Beratungen durch, verhandelt Rahmenverträge und vertritt clubkulturelle Positionen in parlamentarischen und außerparlamentarischen Ausschüssen sowie Anhörungen. Die Clubcommission verwaltet zudem für das Land Berlin den Schallschutzfonds, ist Veranstalter der Stadt nach Acht Konferenz und der Europäischen Clubnacht, und vertritt die Interessen der Szene in Gremien wie z.B. in der Berliner IHK, sowie im Beirat des Musicboards Berlin.
Zentrale Aufgaben der Clubcommission sind die Förderung und Schutz einer lebendigen und vielfältigen Clubkultur, außerdem sind wir Vermittler zwischen diesem kulturellen Bereich auf der einen Seite und andererseits Institutionen, Verbänden und Initiativen aus anderen kulturellen Feldern, der Politik und der Stadtgesellschaft.
In den vergangen Jahren folgten über 60 weitere Städte (u.a. Amsterdam, London, Paris, New York und Wien) dem Berliner Vorbild und gründeten ähnlichen Organisationen („Night Mayors“ oder “Night Commissions“). Die Clubcommission initiierte während der COVID-19 Krise das Projekt United We Stream, sowie mit dem Senat für Kultur und Europa den „Tag der Clubkultur“.
