I guess this year, we tried to do our best.
This is how I feel, after closing the studio for the summer.
This year, we both did what we could, with what we had, under sometimes unusual circumstances.
2025-2026 might not be remembered as the best season. It was full of new challenges and I am forever grateful that this magic place located Mansteinstrasse 16 is shared with my beautiful colleague Alice im Wolleland 🇫🇷🐑🇩🇪🧶🇪🇺, whose laugh coming from the back room often made my day. A place that regularly welcomes crowds of people, all ages, levels, backgrounds, wishes and stories.
If I could change some parts of these past 10-11 months, this time I would. Tho everything that happens along the way leads to now. And now, despite all these things I would change, I manage to feel some luck and gratefulness.
This year, I met many new people, and some impacted me forever. I designed events I was not happy with, I bought a coat rack for the front room, painted a wall in blue and wondered why I did it so late.
I saw students master drawings I might not be able to do myself and I got nominated for a prestigious price as an “entrepreneuse with migration background” (wondered what this definition really means) and lost.
I discovered oil painting, opening the doors to a new and very unique world, into which I already take refuge quite often.
I developed projects that I had to cancelled and learned from it too.
Later, I embraced the importance of respecting -mine and other’s- boundaries and (in a world polluted by AI) enjoying process and learning from it, more than the result.
I painted a bench with my trainee in a schoolyard, drank lots of matcha latte and exactly when I needed it, received waves of incredible support I will never forget.
The studio witnessed lots of laughs too, lots of moments of togetherness. I know students, just like us, sometimes came sad, overwhelmed, tired or angry but if they were able to find some comfort or at list a little break, that means a world to me.
2026-2027, I am curious. I feel like I am gonna like you. You’ll be different for sure and that’s perfect.
Let’s see what we can create together and in the meantime, let’s enjoy the summer ☀️

May 2026 has been... wow... a real Herausforderung.
I experienced challenges and sadness that I left behind years and years ago. Old friends I didn’t know how to handle anymore. And in the middle of that chaos, I sometimes really felt like I am not as strong as I thought, at least not strong enough to continue as I did in the past years.
And I guess, as an entrepreneur, you cannot just stop and rest. Life, budget constraints, suppliers, customers, administration and our fav bro Finanzamt, they are all waiting at the corner. You can escape reality for a little while, but if you escape for too long everything is breaking up.
And you’re the witness of your own decline.
Sometimes it feels unfair, not being able to properly rest and say “sorry, I am off for a bit”.
So as my work is connected with obligations, I couldn’t just keep avoiding, canceling and postponing. Oh yeah I did that a bit, but then I would wake up and have to go to work. Go meet you.
At first, it didn’t feel right, to go and smile and laugh and talk about lines and colors when it was just dark inside. But then I realized I would laugh for real.
I guess you guys are tired about hearing me saying how much I love my job, but you will have to hear it again.
Because if the mornings and the evenings are still a bit harsh, yet the days I spend at the studio with students, with you, are a world apart, a green field in the sun.
They always bring me back on track.
So May was stupid, but May also saw you master drawings and paintings and sculptures and it would fill my entire self with peace and confidence. 💙
In the silence of the studio I hear its blessed walls whispering that things are gonna get better, they always do. 🙏🏼
Sometimes, in this silence, I have a look at the artworks done after the class and I really, really think “there we are, this is beauty”. But it’s actually not just beauty. It is balance, accuracy, experience, acceptance, vulnerability, generosity, process, learnings. All the things I try to share, all the things that I am certain, lead to a happy life.
And after all, when my sorrows calm down slowly, I come back to my goal: make people do art, and go, a bit lighter. ✨

New month, new Look 🥰💙

2025...
what can I say?
I’m a bit scared to say or think that the years go by and look pretty much alike, and that I no longer remember how many years have passed since I started with L’Esquisse. 🤭
Because deep down, each year is unique and made up of unique moments that I try to engrave precisely in my mind, to keep a little bit of magic from the moments spent with you. ✨
This year, again, you created wonders. I have been moved so many times by your work, and I have hoped so many times that you could see the power of what you draw and paint, and that it would make you feel stronger than anything else, give you enough energy and confidence to move mountains in your everyday life.
That it would make you think, “No, it’s not easy every day, but I am full of talent.”
The world is not an easy place to live I heard, but it is also full of beauty and joy, and in this caring bubble full of color and creativity that we create together, I hope you feel that I dedicate my days to offer you a little time for yourself, a little bit of poetry, a break from the mad rush that our lives can sometimes be.
For all those shared moments, as always, I say thank you so so much ❤️
