TheWeeker: ‚Love, Ren Hang’ @coberlin
Jet black hair, porcelain skin, bright red lips and fingernails; figures gazing intensely into the camera; young men and women posing acrobatically with bizarre props; animals and plants in the glaring light of the camera’s flash, situated in urban landscapes, private spaces, or in nature, among rice fields, lotus ponds, and cacti—Chinese artist Ren Hang’s photographs are painfully provocative, but also inward looking and dreamily surreal @renhangrenhang

TheWeeker: ,Nine To Know,
Group show curated by Jenny Brosinski @ruttkowski68

It is always a question of truth – or rather of perception – especially when it comes to painting. In Nine To Know ten artists from New York and Berlin show their positions on contemporary painting – or what a painting might be in their eyes – in Paris.

TheWeeker: Anna Ehrenstein with her new work „Tools for Convivialitay“ at LINK IN BIO. Art after social media @mdbkleipzig
The German-Albanian artist @annaehrenstein is interested in the relationship between human beings and objects in the digital age. How do values change? Who is influential? What is the role played by selfies? In Senegal, Ehrenstein worked with young creatives. Diverse communities have developed in this country and multicultural coexistence has become possible owing to the fact that digital spaces have been opened up that also have an effect on analog spaces. Young women in Senegal have become well-known influencers, for example, because they have been able to share their music in social media and show their bodies. They have become entrepreneurs because they know how to utilize the power of social media.

TheWeeker: Marie Munk “Great Pets” @tranen_nu
Marie Munk’s first solo exhibition in Denmark unfolds as a fever dream about a future biotechnological world. The exhibition Great Pets is an installation that invites guests to enter a both familiar and alien landscape. The installation resembles one of today’s childproof playgrounds whose artificial grass and crass rubber concrete colors stage an oddly artificial and domesticated nature.

In her exhibition Franco-Canadian artist #KapwaniKiwanga delves into the hidden racial dimension of the notion of visibility in order to detail its deployment as a tool of colonial oppression, as well as the fugitive subjects it engendered—subjects who sought solace in its opposite: invisibility. TheWeeker: Eva Grubinger „Malady of the Infinite“ @belvedere21wien
Her exhibition “Malady of the Infinite” deals with the big picture of structural inequality, unlimited and insatiable wanting finding no prospect of satisfaction, for rich and poor, magnate and pirate. Against this backdrop, Grubinger insinuates a narrative in which power and powerlessness confront one another on the high seas.
