We're thrilled to announce that Charles Hayward will be joining the Sonic City lineup this November.
Drummer, songwriter and sound activist, Hayward was a founding member of the experimental rock groups and Camberwell Now. Across a career spanning nearly 50 years, he's played with free improvisation pioneers Amazing Band, gigged and recorded with Phil Manzanera in Quiet Sun, had a brief stint with Gong, recorded and toured with The Raincoats on "Odyshape," and even played drums with Crass on one memorable occasion. Since the late 1980s he's built a body of solo work spanning songs and imaginative sound worlds, alongside collaborations like Massacre (with Bill Laswell and Fred Frith) and About Group (with Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor).
An artist who's never at rest: This Is Not This Heat recently wrapped a three-year run of performances across the UK, Europe, US and Japan, while his new group Abstract Concrete is out now with its second album.
