Gestern Abend am 3. Mai 2022 hatten wir einen tollen und inspirierenden Vortrag "Gesucht: Kunst!" über Autonomie (in) der Kunst von Prof. Wolfgang Ullrich – mit einer Einführung von Ulla Walter und anschließendem Gespräch samt Fragen aus dem spannend besetzen Publikum, inklusive vieler anwesender Künstler:innen. Als Diskussionsgrundlage dienten das Gemälde „Atelier mit roter Jacke“ (1973) von Klaus Fußmann (siehe Abbildung, Copyright Klaus Fußmann) aus der Kunstsammlung der Berliner Volksbank sowie dem anwesenden Timm Ulrichsʼ mit seiner fünfteiligen Arbeit „Verborgenes Objekt III: Geld“ (1994 / 2007), welche Teil der aktuellen Ausstellung CASH on the Wall ist. Die Werke unterscheiden sich in ihrer künstlerischen Herangehensweise, beleuchten jedoch beide die zentrale Fragestellung, worin autonome Kunst besteht und was sie von anderen Spielarten von Kunst unterscheidet.

Last night on May 3rd, 2022 we had a great and inspiring lecture "Gesucht: Kunst! (Wanted: Art!)" about autonomy (in) art by Prof. Wolfgang Ullrich - with an introduction by Ulla Walter and a subsequent discussion including questions from the exciting audience, including many present artists. The basis for discussion was the painting "Atelier mit roter Jacke" (1973) by Klaus Fussmann (see illustration, copyright Klaus Fussmann) from the Kunstsammlung der Berliner Volksbank and Timm Ulrichsʼ, who was present, with his five-part work "Verborgenes Objekt III: Geld" (1994 / 2007), which is part of the current exhibition #CASHontheWall. The works differ in their artistic approach, but both illuminate the central question of what autonomous art consists of and what distinguishes it from other varieties of art.
