For the last 16 years, Moore’s discography has destabilized the hierarchies of old and new, good and bad, kitsch and avant-garde – and dismantled prevailing belief systems about what popular music is, or can be.
In his first formal interview in over a decade, he speaks to Ecco2k () about his roller-coaster ride of a career and CONTRA (), a festival created in collaboration with his creative director Bill Kouligas (of ), alongside an international team of curators.

Anyone working in media or the arts has probably, at some point, fantasized about subverting or reprogramming the digital billboards of New York’s Times Square. What if…

And it just happened with GUCCICORE cruise show by last night. Absolutely awe-inspiring to experience it!

Nostalgia and lore surrounding Gucci’s trifecta of elegance, seduction, and provocation is mined and transformed into clashing archetypes that generate PURE ENERGY. All the obvious criticism - too much Balenciaga, not enough new gestures or designs - may well be true, but ultimately feels beside the point.

(At heart, it’s a reactionary argument rooted in a vision of fashion that no longer exists, or at least no longer holds cultural relevance.)

The head of ATHENA overlooks my desk: Greek goddess of wisdom, warfare, and craft. (I guess a fitting ally in fashion and media!)

Now, a 13-year-old boy has found a Greek bronze coin from the 3rd century BC in a field in Berlin, minted in Troy between 281–261 BC. Athena is depicted on both sides. It is the first recorded archaeological find from ancient Greece in Berlin.

My longest creative collaboration has been with our art director , alongside his deputy Tim Giesen. For almost 20 years - since Issue 13, Energy Experimentation - he has played a crucial role in shaping the identity of 032c. I still remember traveling to Cologne to present him the very first issue, slightly in awe, because he was… Mike Meiré.

But change is necessary. As we reset 032c in multiple ways, we are also confronting new questions around the magazine’s design and aesthetics. At its core, the challenge is both simple and fundamental: what does it mean to publish a magazine in an AI world?

To explore this, we have decided to begin a new chapter with a different art director and team for the years ahead. This brings an extraordinary run with Mike and Tim () to a close - though, in true 032c Hotel California fashion (“You can’t check out”), we are already in conversation about a new project together.

We salute Mike and Tim for their remarkable contribution to 032c, with deep gratitude.
