While contemplating on the dynamics the world is currently facing, we’ve been reminded on ‘asymptote 2’, a kinetic apparatus we build a few years ago with our brother in crime .
The apparatus rotates a thin red string to create a standing wave. A wooden stick strokes the wave periodically and causes irritation with every encounter.
~
After each tangency the wave struggles for a while to integrate the irritation. The system becomes nervous and appears to collapse. For a while the wave finds stability in changing its frequency. However, some moments later it can fully integrate the recent stimulus and recovers as a simple sinus.

What can be said about the behavior of the standing wave, can probably be said about all systems, respectively consciousness itself.
We don’t want to imply that things will be the same after all this – actually we deeply hope they won’t.
Our point is to share trust in flow as a universal principle.
Life is an ongoing integration of irritations.
With every integration we grow, we solidify our density, top up our resolution and improve our flowyness.
It is only when we resist integration that we become stiff.
~
So how about we consider irritation not as a troublemaker, but rather embrace it as a teacher ~ or as a stranger who we allow to become a friend?

panta rhei.
long live the sinus.
