This year's festival programme raises criticism of the political system and reflects the current state of society, followed by three screenings of films by pioneering directors and a drag performance. Our guest speakers are
activists, lawyers, educators, journalists and culture professionals. June 2024 (DAY 1): Climate Crisis, Inequality and migration
Climate change and displacement are increasingly interconnected. As extreme weather events and environmental conditions worsen with global heating, they are contributing to multiple and overlapping crises, threatening human rights, increasing poverty and ultimately, creating conditions for further forced displacement and migration. Displacement in climate change-fuelled crises is already a global reality – a reality that reflects and amplifies the deep inequalities and injustices in our world today, especially in global south. Natural disasters magnify existing gender inequalities and widen the gap between rich and poor. It is important to bring awareness to this topic and raise our voice for the people that are being displaced. Discussion podium: Angelos Rallis (Photojournalist), TBA

*Friday, 14. June 2024 (DAY 2): Far right as the new normal? Experiences and strategies of resistance in Europe
In the past few years, we have been confronted with the rise of a new far right. It is distancing itself politically from the extremist organizations of the previous decade, such as Golden Dawn in Greece or NPD in Germany. It seeks to present itself as a serious and realistic alternative. Neoliberal concepts are mixed with an anti-right, racist, sexist and anti-environmental discourse and are presented as the new normal. The victory of Meloni (Italy) and the PVV (Netherlands), the rise of Le Pen (France) and AfD (Germany) as well as the far-right turn and prevalence of conservative parties such as FIDESZ (Hungary) and ND (Greece) are indicative examples. This trend is also reflected in a deep fascism in the respective societies. At the festival, we want to organize a discussion with guests from different European countries (Greece, Germany, France, Italy, Hungary), who will bring the experience from their own country. Questions we want to discuss are: What are the particular forms of the far right in each country? What constitutes a new strategy of resistance? The rise of the far right across Europe tends to become the new political and social normal. What form does it take in each country? How can we fight it? *Friday, 21. June 2024 (DAY 3): Censorship and Disinformation in Media˙ the Case of Palestine
The criminalization of solidarity with Palestine in Germany has taken on completely new dimensions since October 7th, as media and the political establishment systematically label it as antisemitism, causing tremendous social and political discomfort for those of us living and acting in Germany. Artists and writers, among others, are being canceled for alleged antisemitism, while the far-right party AfD and real neonazism are on the rise. While the situation in Gaza and Rafah is getting worse, the mainstream media remains silent , and we as citizens are spectators to a massacre and a genocide on our cell phones. Our aim through this panel discussion is to hear from activists, as well as representatives from independent media, to discuss this critical situation. *Saturday, 22 June 2024 (DAY 4): Political Drag from a queer feminist perspective
Queer-feminist voices are still fighting to be heard, wherever oppressive systems prevail. Worldwide, the rights of non-binary, trans* and gender non-conforming folks are questioned, their identities are scrutinized, and their safety is too often compromised. Drag is a radical act of defiance and resistance against attempts to silence and marginalize whoever does not conform to normative socially imposed ideals. Hence, we conclude this year’s festival not with a film, but with giving Drag Riots, a queer-feminist migrant Drag collective, the time and space to present themselves and their art, which stands against heteronormativity, patriarchy, colonialism, and every system violating human dignity and personal boundaries. Drag Riots uphold values such as anti-fascism, anti-racism, and the liberation of every individual experiencing oppression. They sympathize with the struggles for trans liberation, with every queer person, refugees and migrants, working people, and every marginalised person in all regions of the world by standing against heteronormativity, patriarchy, colonialism, and every system that violates the dignity and boundaries of every individual. They advocate for a society of love and coexistence, equality and equity without powers, nationalism, religions, and borders. They believe in the collectivisation and self-organisation of people who coexist with these values and without hierarchies, in resistance and solidarity, everywhere in the world.
