Emel Mathlouthi, the Tunisian protest singer who provided the soundtrack to the revolution with her 2012 album "My Word is Free" (in Arabic: Kelmti Horra), is bringing her new album MRA to Berlin. With MRA, Emel aimed to deconstruct in order to rebuild everything, to stimulate herself, «so that music remains alive», she says. The result is a powerful, salvific and feminist album. Feminist by name alone, MRA meaning «woman» in Arabic. But a woman who does not respect codes. Feminist also, because the album was written, conceived and produced exclusively by and with women. With MRA, Emel wants to create a movement of tired but tireless women. Alongside Camélia Jordana, Nayomi, Alyona Alyona... women who sing, rap, produce, write in English, Arabic or French, but who all share the same language and the same fight. «My responsibility is to carry their voices at the same time as I carry mine,» affirms Emel.

Somewhere between the Orient and the Occident, she challenges musical stereotypes and confronts her audience with a unique combination of modern productions, cross-genre sounds and elements of her Iranian heritage. Whether mystical or urban, pop or underground, s*x club or vernissage, dramatic or exuberant – MADANII is all of these at the same time and consistently eludes any categorization.

DJ B***y Carrell is the DJ pseudonym of vinyl archaeologist, Golden Pudel resident and international DJ Sebastian Reier. Carrell explores the depths of the vinyl universe and digs into the second wave of the musical globalization. He goes wherever musicians* around the globe have begun to fuse regional traditions with Western styles. Whether in Turkey, Iran, Romania, Pakistan, France, or even Germany, Carrell is known for blending global hits with widely unknown regional pop gems that can turn the world upside down. His show Groovie Shizzl is broadcasted bi-weekly on the internet radio station ByteFM. und Seit Oktober 2020 kümmert sich Sebastian um die Musik an den Münchner Kammerspielen.
