About:

Hüseyin Umaysız (born 1969) is a theatre director and performance artist. He explores the effects of performances in which the body is under pressure, vibrations become sound, and time and rhythm shift. In recent years, he has focused on the relationship between humans, nature, and materials. He is currently researching the Munzur River in Kurdistan and felt, the first industrial textile. He discovered that women used river water to make yogurt and bread yeast. Inspired by this tradition, he investigates the relationship between the human body and the billions of bacteria that surround us. With the performance Gist, he invites the audience to witness this process in the form of a unique, sensory experience.

About the class:

In these three progressive classes, Joan Skinner invites us to the above concepts as kinaesthetic experiences with solo, partner, and group studies. The process of letting go is prevalent. But what do we let go of? Where in the body, or in the self? How? What remains? What becomes visible through letting go? Why let go at all?
The poetic and precise language of the technique offers suggestions through guided movement explorations. Each class, distinct in its focus and content, becomes a dance of shifting awarenesses, tapping into your power, gently.
Join the classes to move, rest, connect, integrate, create, learn or simply to be.

Practical information:

• Classes will begin at 10:30. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to settle in.
• Bring a water bottle, a notebook and pen/pencil, warm and comfy layers, and perhaps a small blanket.

Dynamic Expansion created by Shannon Cooney, is an embodiment approach to movement and dance inviting sensing and connecting to the Fluid Body.Tuning into the Craniosacral system fluid dynamics and its stillness phenomena grounds the practice.
It is a movement and performance enhancement that flows between deeper inner listening to the fluid dynamics in the body, allowing them to move us. combined with a visual practice “Moveable Cinema” with expands and enhances one’s connection to the visual field. It’s a cinematic approach of seeing while moving and being seen.
There are guided movement meditations and improvisation scores inspired from water dynamics in Nature giving one space for movement discovery, new patterning, freedom through mobility and connectivity. These explorations are autonomous, in partnerships and group scored practices.

This practice is open to professional and non-professional dancers, movers, performers, somatic practitioners, bodyworkers, creatives. We invite all adult ages, all abilities, all persons with the interest to participate in this practice.

Hello everyone, we’re happy to share that today Jasna will be in the panel discussion with the berlin cultural senator Joe Chialo, together with Susanne Foellmer and Isabel Lewis. This is part of the discussion forum, « Tanz Macht Berlin – Eine Veranstaltung vom und für den Tanz » come to support her and all the artist and cultural worker who will advocate for the dance scene during the day.

As part of our new community class in Pip studio- Flutgraben 3- 12435 Berlin
Friday 31th January- 10h-12h

Maria Scaroni: body/material invites the participants to tune into the subtle body, through breathing and slow activations, drawn from functional anatomy (image based and hands on approach) and Qui circulation techniques. Every day the focus is brought to a system (eg. bones, technology of breath, heart center, gravity dynamics) to allow for this to grow into explorations or dances.
The class dynamic evolves from somatic tuning and awareness into a playground for a polymorphous and joyful dance experience. Sometimes touch is involved to guide a more precise perception of patterns. The class has healing after effects, it relies on grounding to access cathartic togetherness.

Maria F. Scaroni (IT/DE) is a dance artist, living in Berlin since 2004. She creates and interprets choreographic works rooted in improvisational practices and altered states of consciousness. Maria hosts workshops re-purposing post-modern dance legacies towards technologies for mutual empowerment, crossbreeding somatic practices and anti-oppression frameworks, storytelling and theory, to bring somatic literacy in support of a culture of connection. Maria performs in Meg Stuart’s works, with whom she collaborates since 2009. Since pandemic she is hosting Social Pleasure Center, a community space for somatic post-activism, q***r feminist joyful militancy, radical redistribution of resources and temporary social choreography.

As part of our new community class in Pip studio- Flutgraben 3- 12435 Berlin

Friday 24th January- 10h-12h

Clement Layes and Ante Pavic will open the practice of "dancing your demon" they have been working on for many years. It’s a playful nevertheless powerful work to encounter and understand our own shadow. The work starts with a guided meditation and goes on to a dance (it can also remain a meditation). Bring paper and pencil for writing and drawing at the end.
