We were lucky enough to acquire one of the very limited Berserker Series 1 ribbon microphones by . This thing sounds amazing as a mono room mic on drums, amongst other things. That said, when you have someone as talented as hitting the skins, it always makes our job that much easier. 😀

So stoked. Our Fostex B16D has had all the LEDs in the VU Meters replaced with modern surface mount equivalents by the fantastic José Carrillo Gómez in Jaén, Spain. (https://goo.gl/maps/hskvPyV69EMaYVJV7 )

Videos of the process to follow in the coming days. But for now it’s time begin the important calibration.

It’s finally happening! Received the replacement sumida coil and the RE-303 build is back on track. PSU is working as expected. Now onto the VCO. Watch this space 🙂🧬🖤😋

Our experimentation with these breakout boards for our AKAI S1000 digital sampler has proved successful. These line driver kits are a clean and integrated solution to audio balancing. Running on a dual DC supply from ±5 to ±20 Volts, it’s more than likely you’ll be able to retrofit any of your old gear for seamless use with TRS or bantam patchbays. Better yet, if you don’t need the headphone out and footswitch jacks on your S1000 you can install them without the need for any chassis modifications. :)

Whooo! Just received our SSL UF8 DAW controller. This is definitely going to enhance our workflow and make hybrid mixing a true joy. Bye bye mouse input automation curves. :)

First time making custom rack gear. Took MUCH longer than expected, but stoked with how it’s turned out!

This Line Amplifier’s going to allow the Fostex B16D to interface hassle free with other studio equipment, converting high impedance, unbalanced signal with RCA connectors to 600 Ohms, balanced signal with DB25 connector and vice-versa. Using the fantastic Palpigrade and Tardigrade kits from and the POS NEG PSU from . Front and rear panels manufactured by . Thanks to for the tech support and assistance along the way! 🙏🎚🎼

We use Neutrik DSUB patchbays and love them, but in all honesty the Neutrik DSUB25 TT patchbays are fiendishly expensive. For any opportunists out there, here’s a solution we came up with to retrofit a pre-existing NPPA patchbay with DSUB connectivity. Just awaiting a few more parts to fit the female DSUB connectors, but so far so good.

Second round of mods completed. This included rewiring the auxiliary output XLR jacks to comply with AES48 wiring standard. Pin 1 of the XLR jacks no longer connect to signal ground and are instead connected to chassis ground. The results are staggering and would recommend to anyone else with noisy auxiliaries on a Trident Series 65. Check the before and after spectrograms. 😲👂 🎚
