-“Galana” is a Berlin-based project that creates a new musical language, merging ancestral Sephardic songs with the expressive freedom of jazz.

The sound emerges at the intersection of memory and present: Melodies sung in medieval Ladino and passed down through generations are given a living space to transform, expand, and take on a voice of their own.

The group is formed by María Brazo (Vocals), Tomer Eshed (Guitar), Urs Johnen (Double Bass), Laurie Rothwell (Clarinet), and David Millán (Drums). The diversity of their musical backgrounds and sensibilities shapes a deeply eclectic and cohesive sound.

Galana’s music is an evolving tapestry where the ancient and the contemporary intertwine.

Experience the intensity of Flamenco with a trio of master artists. The performance is a dynamic dialogue between percussive footwork, the deep, emotional currents of the ‘cante’ (Vocals), and the intricate melodies of the Spanish guitar. This show highlights the profound strength and passion of the male tradition in Flamenco.

“aPuro Nada” is a flamenco dance and music performance presented by five artists active in the flamenco scene. The cast features dancers Magda Almeida (Argentina) and Piera González (Chile), together with percussionist Antonio Moreno “Pumuki” (Spain), singer Celedonio Garrido (Spain), and guitarist Josel Ratsch (Germany) musicians who are well established within the flamenco scene in Germany. The performance has a total duration of approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and is structured around three dance pieces, interwoven with guitar and vocal solos, and is followed by a collective improvised (fiesta por tangos), creating a festive closing to the show. The repertoire explores different flamenco styles (palos) and rhythmic structures, offering a dynamic stage presentation based on the dialogue between music and dance.

Saturday, 18.04. Nomadic Flamenco Jazz

Flamenco’s nomadic roots find new life in the music of Melón Jiménez & Lara Wong. Rooted in flamenco and tinted with jazz, their music echoes flamenco’s roots from India to Africa to Latin America. 

Wong is a Canadian flutist and bansuri player who, after immersing herself in flamenco in Andalusia, became the first woman and foreigner to win the Filón Minero Award for Best Flamenco Instrumentalist at Spain’s Cante de las Minas festival. Jiménez, a Madrid-born flamenco guitarist with Gitano roots, mixes tradition with global influences and has toured with artists including Anoushka Shankar, Enrique Morente, and Richard Bona.

Since forming their duo in Madrid, Wong and Jiménez have performed on renowned stages across North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. In their Berlin debut performance they are joined by local favorites: dancer and choreographer Anna Castillo and oud player Alaa Zouiten.

The Berlin-based trio Tawabil Project invites you to a special concert evening in collaboration with Arabic vocalist Husam Al Ali.
Moving between oriental musical traditions, jazz, and flamenco-inspired rhythms, the trio has developed a distinctive and flexible sound. Violin, guitar, and accordion interact closely, shifting between structured arrangements and improvisation, shaped by the strong musical connection between Ayman Hilal, Jonas Fehrenberg, and Wesam Karema.
Husam Al Ali joins with a voice rooted in the classical Arabic tradition, interpreted with contemporary clarity and presence. Together, they create a program that moves between tradition and reinterpretation, structure and spontaneity.
An evening dedicated to musical dialogue — focused, vibrant, and immediate.
