On Tara Nome Doyle’s recent album, »Værmin«, »Caterpillar« is a big, opulent piece; the new string quartet version on her upcoming EP »æ« reveals nuances of fragility and power. It has been arranged by the Icelandic composer and conductor Viktor Orri Árnason whose score was recorded by the Belgian Echo Collective in Brussels. Doyle wanted to approach her work from a different angle, to further explore the album’s melodies and the relationship between the musical accompaniment and her singing. Her new exploration of her latest album, in form of the upcoming EP "æ", will be available soon!

Pantha Du Prince - Blume (Bendik HK Edit)

Pantha Du Prince´s second single, "Blume (Benedik HK Edit)", of his upcoming album “Garden Gaia,” is out now! “Blume,” which is German for “flower,” received its final polish through a conscious act of letting go. Pantha du Prince sent what was for him a finished track to Bendik Hovik Kjeldsberg in Oslo, who then intervened and rearranged everything. And it was Kieldsberg’s idea to have Helena Tusvik Rosenlund sing an additional track over Hendrik Weber’s reverberated vocals. On the track Pantha further allows for extremely fragile musical moods to simply exist and bolsters them with frequencies that seem to naturally communicate with us.

“‘My All‘ is a melody I wrote as a send off to my little brother who passed away,” writes Lanois .“The piano part is based on an approach I learned from Steven Tyler from Aerosmith. Some time back Steven was at my house playing my upright piano, he showed this style of repeating a chord on the right hand, while playing a moving melody on the left hand. It was a turning point in my piano playing…Thank you Steven!” - Daniel Lanois

Robert Ames, Ben Corrigan, Plaid - Citadel of Kicks - Plaid Remix

The second CARBS (Robert Ames and Ben Corrigan) remix is out now! "Citadel of Kicks" was remixed by the electronic music duo Plaid, which consists of Andy Turner and Ed Handley. Ames had the following to say about his decision to work with duo: “Plaid have been a massive part of my musical diet for a long time, their brand of IDM had a big influence on me when I was a Warp obsessed student in London and their music has really stuck with me.”

Ames goes on to reveal even more about the creative process behind the remix: “I had the pleasure of working with them recently on an orchestral show with Ben, think it was the first time they have written for orchestra. Our job was to take their electronic stems and arrange for the various instruments of the orchestra. It was amazing to see first hand Plaid’s music deconstructed and geek out over how they put music together.”

He adds: “During the rehearsals and concert I was conducting and they were playing with an electronic set up. They are a quiet pair but incredible kind and generous with support and work ethic. This project was just before CARBS release, I sent them the album and to our surprise they were really enthusiastic about doing a remix. I think it hits all of the juicy spots that you grow to expect from a plaid tune, couldn’t be happier with it.”

"Aerial Objects", the new album by Simon Goff & Katie Melua, is out now!

Today violinist, composer, and Grammy Award-winning sound engineer, Simon Goff, and multi-platinum-selling singer-songwriter, Katie Melua, reveal their stunning collaborative album, Aerial Objects. The album is available digitally and on CD now via BMG Modern Recordings and will be available on vinyl on September 2.

The album features previously released singles ‘Hotel Stamba’ and ‘Textures Of Memories’ alongside new tracks ‘Tbilisi Airport’, ‘It Happened’, ‘Aerial Objects’ and ‘Millions Of Things'.

"Aerial Object" Is Available Here: https://simonandkatie.lnk.to/AerialObjects

Simon Goff and Katie Melua were two musicians who moved in very different musical circles. Simon being more closely aligned to a bloodline of artists who inhabit an area between electronic, classical and post-rock, with his unique approach to sound seeing him work with some of the world’s most acclaimed musicians, including Academy Award-winning composer Hildur Guðnadóttir on the scores for Joker and Chernobyl – both of which earned him Grammy Awards. Katie, meanwhile, has released 8 Top 10 UK albums across a 20 year career littered with modern standards including ‘Closest Thing To Crazy’ and ‘Nine Million Bicycles’. Her latest LP, Album No.8, was released in 2020 to huge acclaim and the accompanying Acoustic Album No.8 was released in 2021 which featured contributions from Simon on ‘Remind Me To Forget’ and ‘Maybe I Dreamt It’.

After that initial collaboration on Katie’s album, the pair agreed they immediately wanted to test the boundaries of what a collaboration could look like from a blank canvas.

An exhibition the pair attended at the iconic brutalist edifice of the König Gallery in Berlin was the catalyst for the album’s thematic terrain. A discussion on the emotional effects of different spaces and architecture sparked an exploration of landscapes, both man-made and natural, and turned into experimental compositions that move, moment by moment, between the song spaces of Katie and the immersive melodies of Simon.

With Simon at the musical helm and Katie’s imagination and lyrical freedom addressing how environments shape her thinking and state, this six-track collaboration record is an exploratory project of two artists searching beyond their usual musical boundaries into places unknown.

On the album, Simon says “The process of making this album has been one of discovery and giving space to each other. The sensitivity needed for this kind of process has allowed many things to surface, from us discovering the differences in how we listen to and hear music and lyrics, to our own deeply personal life experiences. The record for me is a representation of us exploring the space that exists between us and discovering a common voice from within it.”

Katie says “I was fortunate enough to work with Simon when he appeared as a guest on an acoustic album I released late last year. During those sessions, and as a maker of immersive musical landscapes, Simon talked to me about creating records that make the listener feel like they are inside the orchestra. We agreed that we needed to create something new together - with a focus on how different environments affect the human condition.

She continues “On Aerial Objects, our two artists’ worlds have merged to create a new space: Simon on the violin, analogue processing and synths, coming together with my world of traditional records rooted around the pop song. Lyrically this work has allowed me the freedom of imagination to address how environments shape my thinking and state; how the use of language and story-telling influence me; as well as the opportunity to finally reflect on a time in my life when I was recovering from a very challenging psychiatric illness.”

Pantha Du Prince - Golden Galactic

One year after the release of his last album “429 Hz Formen von Stille”, Hendrik Weber aka Pantha Du Prince is getting ready to release his new album “Garden Gaia”. The first single “Golden Galactic” is out now, accompanied by a visualizer directed by Natalia Stuyk.

In “Golden Galactic” Pantha du Prince delineates a golden shimmer that’s like a primordial substance for life – the desire to live: “I recorded ‘Golden Galactic’ during a really special moment. I was awake and this golden shimmer slipped through my fingers and turned into sound. I kept playing and playing on a synthesizer while listening to myself play. Then I listened to this music with Friedrich Paravicini. Afterwards, he composed strings for it – it’s like a musical dialogue.”

“Garden Gaia” will be available August 26th!
