Congratulations to the 1st Prize Winner of the BBA Made in Berlin Artist Award 2026, Phillip Staffa 🥇🎉

Phillip impressed the jury and the audience with his series ‘Objects of Desire,’ celebrated for its conceptual depth and ex*****on.

This series reimagines everyday items by drastically altering their scale and context. By transforming familiar objects—such as inflating a cigarette butt into a monument or sealing a self-help book—Staffa confronts the viewer with themes of desire, beauty, failure, and ambiguity. Ultimately, his playful and accessible approach turns culturally shared archetypes into direct, emotionally charged physical experiences - the jury was very impressed! 🎉

The Made in Berlin Art Award 2nd Prize Winner is Jette Lübbehüsen 🥈💐

Jette is a Berlin-based artist, who entered the competition with her oil painting series called “Trash Life” investigating everyday urban environments and digital aesthetics, raising the question about materialism, digital identity, and contemporary consumer culture.

The Made in Berlin Artist Award 3rd Prize Winner is Maike Frees 🥉💐

Leipzig-born, Berlin-based artist Maike Frees captivated the jury with her works, “Soliloqui I” & “Paradox of Willingness”

Her work is a mixed-media exploration between realism and its deliberate deconstruction. She utilises large-scale drawings on black paper combined with contrasting acrylics, ink, and white paper cut-outs. Her work can be described as an inner theater and a forum for individual peculiarities, rituals, and compulsions, breaking through daily routines via surreal distortion and exaggeration.

The One Shot Award Spring edition Winner is Michael Bulgrin 1️⃣📸

Michael is a German Photographer who after entering the Photography competition multiple times, won the top prize with “Mount Etna” 🌋

It takes immense patience, perfect timing, and a brilliant eye to distill the chaos of an active volcano and capture a perfect shot.

Anna Frank is an Art Historian and Gallery owner of Anna25 in Berlin.

Frank F. Drewes is a MA Architect, Interior Architect , Professor, Architectural critic and Art collector.

Vishal .io is the managing and creative director of BBA Gallery and a multidisciplinary artist.

Renata is the director of BBA Gallery, Curator, Artist and lecturer.
