In 1920, 53,000 people packed into Goodison Park to watch a women's football match. ⚽

A year later, the FA banned it ruling that football was "quite unsuitable for females."

Women were barred from every affiliated ground. Referees were asked not to officiate.

The ban lasted 50 years.

And Britain used it for decades. Matt Busby's 1973 autobiography was literally titled "Soccer at the Top." Sky still airs Soccer Saturday today.

So why did Britain drop it? Because Americans started using it.

But the Premier League hasn't published the ruling, no punishment has been decided, and City are expected to appeal.
