Hello from this little bee wishing you a happy weekend. I made serious progress on my monkshood. Now it's about smoothing details out. Going over everything observing and actually letting the reference be reference and asking myself what does the painting need to become the best it can be. I also think I'll need to add a bit more to balance the composition. But that's not a today task.

er Eisenhut nimmt langsam Form an – Blüte für Blüte entstehen die satten Violett- und Blautöne, die dieser giftig-schönen Pflanze ihren besonderen Charakter verleihen. Noch ein Stück Arbeit vor mir, aber ich liebe, wie die Textur der Blütenblätter sich entwickelt. 🎨

Monkshood coming to life, one blossom at a time. Those deep violet-blue tones are really starting to capture the velvety texture of this beautifully toxic flower. Still work to do, but loving the progress so far. 🎨💜

Progress shots of a monkshood (Aconitum) study in progress — those deep violet hoods are such a satisfying color to mix. 💜🌿

Working section by section, letting each bloom dry before layering the next shadow in. Still a way to go before the stems and leaves come in, but the color's finally starting to sing.

Ich arbeite Abschnitt für Abschnitt und lasse jede Blüte trocknen, bevor die nächste Schattenschicht dazukommt. Es fehlen noch Stiele und Blätter, aber die Farbe beginnt schon zu leuchten.

My third or fourth time playing around with vellum. I do not quite see the advantage. But that's probably because my technique doesn't transfer too well into it. Fun experimenting though.

Anyway I hope you enjoy my experimental cherries 🍒

I don't want to spoil the magic but usually I paint using photography references in some shape or form. For this little tomato I had the original right next to me though and one thing that really enriched the experience is the smell. I believe I will always remember the smell of this almost overripe green tomato when I look at the painting.

möchte die Magie nicht zerstören, aber normalerweise male ich mit Fotovorlagen – in der einen oder anderen Form. Für diese Tomate hatte ich jedoch das Original direkt neben mir liegen, und etwas, das das Erlebnis wirklich bereichert hat, war der Duft. Ich glaube, ich werde mich immer an den Geruch dieser fast überreifen grünen Tomate erinnern, wenn ich das fertige Bild sehe.
