Another month, another night to listen to fantastic records together! 🎉
After turning the music world upside down in 1959 with „The Shape Of Jazz to Come“ and in 1961 with „Free Jazz“ Ornette Coleman kept busy publishing an astonishing body of work, exploring orchestral music, modes, perfecting his thoughts that ultimately led to the harmolodics theory. In the mid 70ies he set up the Prime Time quintet that – again! – completely changed the game. „Body Meta“ is the second output of this new incarnation, mixing electric jazz, funk, rock, driven by broken rhythms coming from Jamaaladeen Tacuma and Ronald Shannon Jackson. The record pre-dates both no wave and post rock, opens up new spaces and horizons: "The name Prime Time was given because every rehearsal was done in such a will it be or not be manner (because of the difficulty of schéduling everybody for rehearsals). When it did happen it was Prime Time. Prime Time is not a jazz, classical, rock or blues ensemble. It is pure Harmolodic where all forms that can, or could exist yesterday, today. or tomorrow can exist in the now or the moment without a second. Thanks for lìstening. Ornette Coleman”
