The mind-spinning indie-rock/folk/art of Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage developed when songwriter and comic book artist Jeffrey Lewis began recording homemade cassettes in New York City in 1998; his critically acclaimed, unusual and word-dense songs lead to Jeffrey signing to Rough Trade Records in 2001 (record label of The Smiths, The Strokes, etc.), and the project evolved into a live touring cult sensation around the world. Creating a brilliant style of scuzzy urban indie-rock-folk, like a 21st Century mash-up of Sonic Youth, Pete Seeger and R. Crumb, Jeffrey’s band has played countless gigs all over the world, including playing as the opening act for icons like the Mountain Goats, Daniel Johnston, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, Dinosaur Jr, The Fall, Dr. Dog, Pulp, Roky Erickson, The Vaselines, and more. Lener’s songs are hymns dedicated to what was, what could have been, and to the courage to keep going despite everything. “Maybe in another life,” she sings, while the drums pound away like a raging torrent of thoughts. A hymn for all the decisions that were never made, for all the crossroads that led into the unknown. A line for those who lie awake at night wondering what would have happened if…— yet therein lies its power: in the realization that it doesn’t matter. That any direction is the correct one, as long as it feels honest.

Massimo Silverio and Tara Nome Doyle will spend some time together in Berlin in October, writing and recording new songs!

There’s a distinct turbulence frothing in Manchester. Not the sideways forever-rain or the static
hum of a post-industrial hangover, but something stranger, lither, and more evasive.
Enter MLEKO: a seven-piece. They twist, howl, and hold you over the edge with ever-so-slightly
clammy hands. Beauty crosscut with beast and a side of sincerity... lathered in levity.
The band — Ed Whirledge (vocals/guitar), Rory Baker (guitar), Tom Houston (sax), Charlotte
Nuta(trumpet), Myron Endean (bass), Ioan Saul (drums), and Bruno Evans (guitar/synth) —
describe their sound as ‘Gub Rock’, which, like all good made-up genres, is more of a shrug than
a statement: “Gub Rock? – Who knows what kind of rock we make? It’s been termed post-punk,
art rock, post-rock, alt rock, prog rock, to the point where we are just as lost as everyone
else.” Call them art-punk, call them post-everything, call them metalified neo-folk noise wizards
with a brass fe**sh. MLEKO is an articulate goliath that keeps it weird, beautiful and joyous.

Lande Hekt has quietly become one of the UK’s best underground songwriters. On her 2021 debut full-length Going To Hell and 2022’s House Without a View, she explored her q***r identity, sobriety, and childhood trauma through the lens of heartfelt, conversational indie-pop, which led to spots opening for the likes of Alvvays, Throwing Muses and The Beths. Her new album Lucky Now reflects the most mature and confident version of Lande Hekt yet.
