Introducing Oliver, played by 🩷

We all know this guy. Smooth-talking, charming, well-connected, and dripping with privilege. Oliver is a modern male, a tech bro, a sigma on the grind - all of this, because he lost the pipeline battle. He used to be Adam's best friend in high-school, but once reunited, the contrast is astounding. Two types of guys, both bad news for Sabina.

Introducting Stephanie, played by 🩷 #
Fabulous, privileged, bold, Stephanie is the kind of best friend who will buy you a drink, insult your outfit, and change your life in the same breath. She represents the essence of Western neoliberalism, armed with endless information and strong opinions, but unintentionally out of touch.
They say opposites attract, so Sabina learns to lean on Stephanie, as she supports her best friend in the best way she knows how to - even if it may not lead to the most ideal of situations.

Meet Adam, played by 🩷

A struggling, passionate and charming actor with big dreams trying to make ends meet in Berlin's gig economy. Him and Sabina meet through a dating app and move in together out of convenience, rather than romance. The two, however, act as each other's pillars, and support each other through thick and thin.
Convinced he is one role away from his big break, Adam auditions for Torvald Helmer's role in an indie production and gets it - but no paycheck included. His solution is to ask Sabina to work for both of them, so he could pursue his dreams.
What follows after Sabina's sacrifice is Adam's transformation into a modern day Torvald, absorbing the role and losing himself as a consequence.

Meet Sabina, played by .banica 🩷
Architect by degree, immigrant by choice, cynical by Slavic nature. Landed in a wild Western world, she struggles to find her footing, and love - once her save haven - becomes just another weight dragging her down, as she makes a huge sacrifice to support her boyfriend.
As job rejections pile up and she finds herself in dire need of money, Sabina puts her own preconceived notions aside and secretly starts doing online s*x work. This sets up a chain reaction in her journey to real emancipation.
A modern day Nora Helmer, who doesn't walk out of her doll house, but rebuilds it herself.

🩷CELEBRATE WOMEN'S DAY WITH NORACORE🩷

A bold, modern take on Ibsen's Doll House, which tells the story of Sabina, a 24 year old Romanian architecture graduate, who flees home's suffocating expectations - only to face the harsh realities of Western "liberation".
Torn between desire and survival, she funds her struggling actor boyfriend while navigating immigration struggles, family pressures and a world where empowerment is a privilege.
When desperation meets opportunity, Sabina dives into the world of online s*x work.
This gripping, Gen Z dramedy reveals the cost of autonomy in a world where bodies, identities and dreams are commodified.

Independent theatre is not easy to do, so one may ask "Then why do it?". We do it, because as internationals, we have no other alternative. We do it, because we want to create, we want to connect with audiences, we want to do our jobs - and it's the only way to do it.
Independent theatre is dependent on your support and interest. That's the only thing that keeps us going - and that is also how we managed to make our first production, Trojan Women, happen - through YOUR support.
NORACORE is our second production and our first original. It served as .banica 's Bachelor project, and we're taking it further through the dedication and passion of our cast & crew. Our premiere is coming up in March at and we are now just honing in our last production details, which is why we need your help.
If you would like to financially support us and fund our production, we would be extremely grateful if you could donate to our GoFundMe link in our bio 🩷 Other ways to support us are by sharing our posts, spreading the word and coming to our shows in March. Let's form a community and flourish the English theatre scene in Berlin!

Our team is proud & excited to announce our second production as a company! In 2025, we will take on Berlin's (and hopefully the world's) stages with NORACORE, an original play written by our founder and artistic director, Anna Bănică, directed by Bailey Hubbs!

Written as a modern retelling of Henrik Ibsen’s "Doll House", the play follows Sabina, a 24-year-old Romanian Architecture graduate, who flees the oppressive expectations of her homeland only to confront the alienation and exploitation of Western liberalism. Struggling to find her footing, she shoulders financial and emotional burdens to support her boyfriend Adam, an idealistic but entitled actor chasing his big break, as Torvald Helmer in an independent production of “A Doll’s House”.

The play intertwines Sabina’s story with a vivid ensemble of characters: her judgmental mother Narcisa, her brash and carefree best friend Stephanie, and Adam’s toxic and opportunistic friend Oliver. Each relationship mirrors Sabina’s struggle to reconcile societal expectations, personal agency, and survival in a Western world. Stephanie’s unapologetic embrace of privilege and her endorsement of online s*x work as an empowering way to earn fast money leads Sabina to make a decision rooted not in liberation, but desperation: becoming a cam girl.

Layered with biting commentary on capitalism, feminism, and digital s*x work, this fresh and original story critiques the commodification of bodies and identities under the guise of autonomy and choice. It juxtaposes the promises of neoliberalism, asking whether true agency exists for those already marginalised. This is not just a retelling, but a reinvention—a reminder that Nora’s decision to walk out of her “doll’s house” is still a battle many women face today.
