🎨 *Essential Anna*. Johannes Hüppi, 2017. Oil on canvas.

🖌️With a traditional formal approach from Hueppi, *Essential Anna*'s eyes come out from the canvas. Through a very light paintstroke and a warm chromatism, Hueppi manages to point out the portrait's sight deepness and creates a floating atmosphera around it. Her face, her thoughts, her eyes, they are there, in between the paint layers.

✒️ Can you guess what is she thinking about?

👤Johannes Hüppi (Baden-Baden, 1965) is a painter working in figuration, drawing, and watercolor. A Roy Lichtenstein Prize recipient and former professor at institutions in Germany and Mexico, his work is held in major German museums including MMK Frankfurt, Kunsthalle Recklinghausen, and Museum Frieder Burda Baden-Baden. With international studios and a three-decade exhibition history, Hüppi's practice bridges classical technique and contemporary artistic discourse.

🎨Untitled (A crazy man stole my eyes), Daniele Buetti. Graphite on paper.

🖌️With an irreverent approach to the topic, Buetti's artwork features the innocence of an unworried line together with the violence of written worlds, generating a strong suggestive contrast. The formality chosen by the artist reminds us of a humoristic vignette, that is however making us uncomfortable. Staring into the character's dark void, that is substituting its eyeballs, generates in us a ghoulish introspective feeling in front of which we feel forlorn.

✒️How do you feel when you read into this arwork's worlds?

👤Daniele Buetti (Freiburg im Üechtland, 1955) is a Swiss artist working across photography, installation, video, and digital media. Known for provocative explorations of identity and beauty since the 1990s, his practice interrogates representation and the constructed self. As professor at Kunstakademie Münster since 2004, his work appears in major collections at Kunsthaus Zürich, Kunstmuseum Bern, and the Reina Sofía Madrid, with exhibitions across Europe's leading institutions.

🎨 Betonkopf 13. Achim Riethmann, 2026. Screed concrete and lacquered UV glass.
🎨Automaske 1. Achim Riethmann, 2023. Watercolor and acrylic on paper behind lacquered UV glass.

🖌️Operating from a mechanical imaginery, Riethmann's artworks incline towards a neofuturistic, distopian figuration emphasized by a formality where concrete, metalic textures and geometrical shapes are the main formal elements. With a heavy presence in the exhibition room, this mechanical antropormorph universe that the artists generates calls for a reading into the realtionships between humans and machines in the post-industrial era.

✒️Which piece catches your eye?

👤Achim Riethmann (London, 1979) is a Berlin-based artist working in watercolor, painting, and installation to investigate socio-political themes and individual desire. His practice employs reduction and omission, layering delicate watercolor drawings behind industrially treated glass or exploring bodies in oil paint. Award-winning and widely collected, his work is held at the Albertina Vienna and major international collections. Based in Berlin, his practice bridges conceptual inquiry with material experimentation.
