While the Covid-19 Pandemic has brought great tragedy into the world, it has also been an opportunity for development and growth; we humans learned new ways of thinking and working together. Here at AnalogDream, a studio for experimental artistic practice and installations which conjoins art with technology, we want to continue developing ways to bridge the gap between the microcosm within the macrocosm. Using the potential of video conferencing services, live streaming, etc, we want to be able to give local gallery exhibitions global viewers. In so doing one keeps travel expenses down, while allowing an intimate performance space an opening to communicate with the world.
The purpose of our collaborative efforts is to show that with an open mind and through the united talents of the collective, one can break norms. Breaking norms in the sense of working together, across fields that normally are not mixed. While Jonathan Apelbaum was the founder of AnalogDream, we have no set leader as a collective. Our main goal is to provide a platform for the individuals taking part in AnalogDream to develop their own visions with creative freedom. It is with this freedom of the dreaming individual that the cohesive artwork of the collective can be accomplished. Here Art acts as a common language allowing the individuals, through the union of their skills, to create something greater. This is a great unifier bringing together dancers and engineers, genders and backgrounds. Our studio realizes its members are just humans with different learning methods and development, but together we speak with the same voice. It’s this message that we bring to our audience and with it hope to challenge the dominating viewpoints and closed spaces in the world, by offering in their place an open compassionate space. We want the public to see that creating a common artwork is about respecting each other and that this value transcends a work ethos to become a modus operandi.
Our presentation will take the values and ethics created in the studio and bring them to life. We have created a common language which is visual and embodied.
