On October 3rd of 2020, Galerie JS Berlin opened the painting show, Quiet Evidence, with the artists; Hannah Jones, Bator Toth and Crista Siglin to much success. A short time later Covid shut the gallery and the show down.
Now seemed the right time to pick up where we left off. Two years later, the gallery is pleased to present them together again (with artist, Jimmie James) :
GALERIE_JS presents Artist, Hannah Brimacombe
Hannah Jones moved to Berlin in 2019, after leaving her small home town in Wales., UK. She grew up behind a camera and while photographing bands on tour, (the likes of Liam Gallagher, Trampolene, The Libertines and Pete Doherty) she found her interest in bright lights and bold expression. Her love for painting was ignited the first time she picked up a brush and has been on fire ever since. Her work varies, flowing from song writing to plays, photographs and acting. Her spare time is spent with a soundtrack and paint..and oh, good coffee.
Bator Toth was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary. He learned classical music from early childhood, later provoking him to study the guitar. While playing in different bands, working on various audio/visual projects, he traveled European art book fairs with the collective, MAMAbooks, showcasing Hungarian photobooks. He moved to Berlin in 2017, working as a sound and light technician. Lately his focus has shifted even more to the creative arts. His days and nights are now spent painting and playing, not only, Heavy Metal to his plants.
Crista Siglin moved to Berlin in 2017 after having grown up (as much as she could manage) in the Midwestern United States. She was awarded a BFA in Painting and Creative Writing from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2015. Her work varies in medium — oscillating between painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, assemblage, and poetry. She explores the body and the mind’s relationship to environment, trauma, time, and phantasmagoria. She enjoys chasing ghosts, playing with other people’s food, and making her way slowly but surely through the Criterion Collection with her cat, Apollo.
Jimmie James works as a poet, painter, actor and singer/songwriter. This renaissanced artist has been a fixture in New York City's art/theater/music scene, showing at a number of galleries (Boltax Gallery, 571 Projects, Thomas Werner Gallery, Andrea Schwartz Gallery) to name a few, performing in works by theatrical luminaries; (Richard Maxwell, Christina Masciotti, Danny Hoch, Susan Lori Parks), as well as composing for theater and film (Seth Zvi Rosenfelds' Everythings Turning Into Beautiful, Amos Poes' Empire II). Whether painting/performing or composing, Jimmie James' work is accessible yet refuses containment. He is doggedly transdisciplinary; part shaman, part poet, part craftsman. James combines paint, fiber, word and image into tapestrial works on canvas and paper. His paintings have been acquired by a number of private collectors. Jimmie James recently returned from gallery exhibitions and performances in Japan, Thailand, and Spain. He currently lives in Berlin and manages GalerieJS Berlin.
