The amazing concert series „Beethoven in close-up“ of Berliner Philharmoniker came to an end, where we played Beethoven’s wonderful „Harp“ string quartet op. 74 in E flat major. Check out our full performance under the following link (starting at 2:00:43) https://www.digitalconcerthall.com/en/concert/53604

Josef Suk - String Quartet No. 2 op. 31

The String Quartet No. 2 by Josef Suk (1874–1935) in a single movement was written at the height of his compositional powers; with its complex harmonies and motivic structure, it seemed avant-garde for its day: the Berlin premiere of November 1912 was accompanied by protests from the audience.

Finally, here is our video production, which we recorded early this year in the beautiful Berlin Philharmonie! Also many thanks to our sound (and video) engineer Benedikt Schröder !

Stay tuned on the Global Hope Festival IGTV to be introduced to a rarely performed piece of Czech composer Josef Suk. The Philharmonic String Quartet will perform for us the underestimated Suk’s String Quartet No. 2 — guess what? It is a composition with 4 movements… it couldn’t be any other way! Hence, are you ready to watch these violinists, violist and cellist get into action?
