This week, Laurence Beaudoin Morin has been leading a performance art workshop on the topic of RISK. When one person's risky place can be another person's safe spot, how do we each negotiate and deal with risk in performance, in relation to the audience, and with questions of responsibility?

The participants will share final solo performances of ten minutes each (approx 3 hours with breaks total). Please join us! And then stick around for a drink and hanging out as we start our goodbye to the space for a little while.

Very sadly, Marta Bosowska is not able to join us. But very happily, Ilka Theurich can perform so we still have a great line up! We are pumped to see Ilka’s work this Saturday night—come join us!

ILKA THEURICH, born in 1971, is a German visual performance and sound artist based in Hannover. Known for her experimental and thought-provoking works, she challenges social norms and explores the boundaries of social impact. Her focus lies in examining the effects of action or inaction, activity or politics on individuals and communities. Theurich's artistic practice revolves around the performative context of space, horizontal democracy, critical spatial practice, and spatial politics.
Studying Fine Arts with a focus on sound art in Hannover, Berlin, and Tokyo, as well as Live Art & Performance Studies in Helsinki, Theurich embarked on creating her own works in the early 2000s.

Ilka Theurich has showcased her works globally, including venues such as the Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo in Montevideo (Uruguay), OPEN International Performance Art Festival in Guangzhou (China), ZERO PLATFORM - International Performance Art Festival in Yangon (Myanmar), and parallel to the 17th Architecture Biennale in Venice in the Giudecca Art District (Italy).

MARA GENSCHEL is a german author and performer based in Berlin. Her first volume of poems was published in 2008. She has since then preferred to work on independent publication concepts and performativity of text. International invitations have taken her, for instance, to Hong Kong, Bucharest, Iowa, and Johannesburg. Her most recent books/prints are Cute Gedanken (2017), Gablenberger Tagblatt (2018), Fur Sessions – Documents about domestication (with Anca Bucur 2018) and Pretending to be in Dessau (2021). She also experiments with audio formats, particularly in the field of so called New Music and radio. www.maragenschel.de

Event description:
Getting your s**t together is really hard!

And Germany doesn't make it easier. This workshop is for you if you know you need to apply for the KSK to save money on your monthly insurance fees, but you can't get over the overwhelming sinkhole that is German bureaucracy. Opening German letters make you queasy? Does your stomach turn at the thought of calling up an office to ask for help?

Then come into the arms of this humble rat as we guide you through everything in a step-by-step process that gamifies German bureaucracy to make it more accessible for everyone. I will also share with you tips and tricks for organizing your little freelance life so you can do paperwork with less heartache.

This workshop has been conceived especially for artists and publicists who are q***r, neurodivergent, non-German speaking and/or commonly discriminated against in Germany on the basis of race, nationality, ability and/or other vectors of identity. In this workshop we take as a starting point that German bureaucracy is designed to be inaccessible for these kinds of folks and we work from there to help you feel empowered and ready to get the benefits you need.

PODO Performance Art Festival has done its run and settled in for a slumber, artists are homeward bound, the space is integrating what’s been brought to it, and now, we who organise, pass into the silence of digesting and resting. Huge huge thanks to each and all who participated, online or in person. Your presence as audience, as community builders, means everything.
