Thresholds of Remembering II
The second chapter of Thresholds of Remembering shifts its focus toward the experience of time. Building upon elements from the first exhibition - including convolutional reverb and the reconstructed mechanism of an ancient Greek timekeeping device and a one-way mirror that activates the gaze, — the exhibition explores time as a perceptual, material, and political phenomenon. Rather than measuring time as a linear sequence, the work invites visitors to experience its elasticity, rhythms, and multiple scales.
The exhibition investigates what it means to inhabit time while waiting for change. It moves between intimate personal perceptual temporalities and historical scales, inviting reflection on political and historical events from a distance while remaining attentive to the present moment — to the acoustics of a room, subtle environmental changes, and the act of listening itself.
Following Alvin Lucier’s technique, the exhibition treats the room as an active participant, gradually revealing its acoustic memory, while recording the space throughout the whole period of the exhibition. Through this process, architecture becomes an instrument that accumulates traces of time and presence.
