association focused on experimental electronic music & sound art. events, workshops, research.

phonon~ is a collective of audiovisual artists based in Usti nad Labem, focused on experimental electronic music, sound art and contemporary electroacoustic music. all of the members are active sound and visuals practitioners, in parallel working as sonic curators at phonon~ events, implementing quadraphonic audio format as a basis for live spatial audio. Members of the collective are: Polina Khatsenka (mʊdʌki), Iva Polanecká, Martin Marek, Jan Krombholz, Petr Hanžl.

On 17.4., a week ago, we launched our new format - ambisonic tearoom, and it's still echoing in ourselves and hopefully in all our guests!

SONIC DEN - a temporary space to inhabit as a formation - came to life with OTTOsonics soundsystem and immersive live soundacapes by mʊdʌki, 9abriela, Jan Krtička, Zosia Hołubowska, Daniel Haas, DJ Kazpa and Michael Dose.

Delicate light, projection & space design was done in collaboration with Wouter Kooij, John Carmon & Michal Ivanecky. Delicious snacks delivered by Kai Granaas, and the tea bar itself by Polina Khatsenka.

All this done with enormous support of the Salzamt crew, Stream festival, and in collaboration with TamLab. HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who contributed with their time, energy, effort and vision to make this happen!
We're very happy to see this happening and looking forward to our next nomadic settling points!

DJ Kazpa joins with a vinyl-based hybrid set moving through experimental electronics, IDM, ambient and trip hop, interwoven with site-specific ambisonic field recordings from Slavkovský les.

SONIC DEN - Daniel Haas

Daniel Haas (alias Sturmherta) brings Kraken - a live system driven by chaotic synthesis, where sound continuously reorganises itself between noise, microtonality, and unstable rhythm.

Working with sound as a physical force in space, his performance moves between intensity and void, pushing perception into shifting states of awareness.

First 𝙎𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙘 𝘿𝙚𝙣 artist announcement!

9𝙖𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙖 is working at the edge of sound and narrative, creating sonic sketches that move between material, memory, and imagined landscapes.

The performance of 9abriela will be accompanied with generative piece by mʊdʌki, livesets by Jan Krtička, Zosia Hołubowska, and Daniel Haas. Later the program unfolds with hybrid DJ sets by DJ Kazpa & Michael Dose presented on the OTTOsonics ambisonic soundsystem.

The tea room remains open throughout the night - a space to slow down, recalibrate, and stay within the shared rhythm of 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙣.

👨‍🚀 NEXT EVENT ANNOUNCE! 👩‍🚀

The idea we worked through for almost one year is coming to its' kickoff!
Come experience the 𝙎𝙊𝙉𝙄𝘾 𝘿𝙀𝙉 with our crew on 17h of April at Atelierhaus Salzamt during the Stream festival in Linz, Austria. The night is followed by the Sonic Architecture workshop by 𝙋𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙖 𝙆𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙠𝙖 on 18.4. at 14:00.

𝙎𝙊𝙉𝙄𝘾 𝘿𝙀𝙉 is a space to be temporarily inhabited in a form of a collective multidimensional experience. Alternatively, 𝙎𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙘 𝘿𝙚𝙣 is designed to be an ambisonic tea room. There are multiple layers of the space: 🔉 a spatial audio system by 𝙊𝙏𝙏𝙊𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙨, creating a complex, almost tangible soundscape; 🔮 site-specific light scenography by 𝙒𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙆𝙤𝙤𝙞𝙟, 𝙅𝙤𝙝𝙣 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙤𝙣 & 𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙠𝙮, intervening with the physical space and creating a parallel visual dimension; 🍵 ongoing tea ceremony by 𝙢ʊ𝙙ʌ𝙠𝙞 inviting the participant to get slow and dissolved in the momentum; 🍙 food by 𝙆𝙖𝙞 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙖𝙨 to refill the energies & stay grounded.

Our aim is to establish a temporary community, settling for the night in the space of Salzamt, addressing the roots of diy music gatherings, coming out from travellers' culture, self-sustainability and nomadism. 🌏

🔥 PÁ / 27. 2. / 20:00 Pathfinder × phonon~ | Křest EP & DJ sets 🔥

Již tenhle pátek se Hraničář znovu rozezní basou.

Na společném večeru dvou lokálních labels představíme domácí crew kolektivu Pathfinder - TITLE & Voice of User.

Lokální headz, hudební nerdové, selektoři posedlí zvukem, kteří už víc než dekádu mapují známé i zapomenuté kouty d’n’b - a nejen jeho. Label, crew, kontinuální mise.

Jejich přizvaným hostem je SBSTRD - DJ a producent z Prahy, co se toho nebojí. SBSTRD je Ravehole show na Radiu Punctum, protekční booking, milovník basu a svých lidí. Jeho sety: energie, tlak, žádné zbytečnosti.

Přijď si zatančit a užít si bass music spolu s námi!

27. 2. v Hraničáři uvedeme DRIZZLE - audiovizuální performance a EP.

DRIZZLE AV live je hybridní audiovizuální projekt mʊdʌki & Petra Hanžla, vycházející z reinterpretací mytických příběhů Krušných hor a krajiny severu. Projekt propojuje field recordings, dubovou a bassovou hudbu, živý cimbál a generativní vizuální prostředí formované daty a zvukem.

Performance měla premiéru na Lunchmeat Festivalu 2025.
V Ústí zazní DRIZZLE v kontextu společného večera Pathfinder × phonon~.

Out now on phonon~ - Drizzle [PHO005]

The new EP from mʊdʌki (Polina Khatsenka) proposes a form of mythic bass, where sound becomes a carrier of the spirit of place, blending folklore & memory.

Across four tracks, Drizzle transforms local legends from the Krušné Hory and Central Bohemian Highlands into low-end rituals.
The sonic phantoms of the EP are brought to life with site-specific field recordings, reworked through granular synthesis, accompanied by sampled modular rack by BASTL Instruments (), and SEMILLA AI - a neural audio synthesis system by 𝔥𝔢𝔵𝔬𝔯𝔠𝔦𝔰𝔪𝔬𝔰 (). Hammered dulcimer adds an acoustic counterweight to the heavy, dub-informed textures.

Developed in parallel with the ambisonic installation Resonant Shelter and a hybrid AV performance with Petr Hanžl, Drizzle traces a path from landscape to the sound system - where imagined beings from regional mythologies are voiced through the club ready tracks.
