Odešel Arto Hietikko, Rest in Punk!🖤

RIP Arto Hietikko

We’re heartbroken to hear about the passing of Arto Hietikko. He was one of the people we were most looking forward to having on board to write a best punk records of 2025 list at DIY Conspiracy. Arto was a true supporter of DIY bands from every part of the world, often taking the time to comment on our reviews of records that might otherwise go unnoticed. It’s rare to meet someone with such genuine enthusiasm for punk music and zines everywhere.

As a zinester, Arto’s work with Toinen Vaihtoehto (The Other Alternative), often called “the Finnish MRR”, was monumental. He was also an essential part of the Puntala Rock crew and the Nunchakupunk label, keeping the spirit of underground punk alive in Finland and beyond.

RIP Arto, Jantsa, and Tero.
RIP Filip Fuchs and all the other punk zine legends we’ve had the honor to meet over the years.

You’ll be forever missed.
