Christopher Corso uses large-format oil paintings to address social change through fictitious reality scenarios. The artist is known for his realistic works and the reality shift of cosmopolitan reality they contain; the viewer catches himself reflecting on the extent to which he himself is exposed to the flood of information, decision-making and choices at work and in his free time. Situations, objects and people that he traces and whose essence he wants to fathom. The different reactions he experiences open up new aspects for him: in every moment he spends in the urban environment, he creates “mental snapshots” that serve as the cornerstone of his works. Removed from the action, the protagonists are separated from the actual pictorial ground by breaks in the composition, thus introducing the viewer to the fragments of the pictorial narrative.
Corso, born 1969 in Bamberg, studied 1993-1999 with Prof. G. Winner at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Munich and at the San Francisco University of Art.
