Miroslava Klesalová’s monotypes and silk papers reimagine landscape as geometric cadastral fragments – psychic, cultural traces reassembled from destruction. More delicate than her geotextile expanses, silk paper evokes meditative gardens through handcrafted layers of care and time.

Václav Kopecký’s conceptual photography approaches the medium as a physical tool shifting perspective – not mere reflection, but analysis through memory, histories, and technologies. Alluding to enclosed worlds with their own rules, he processes images traditionally to interrogate photography as perceptual mode.

The original impulse for this artistic, research-oriented, and interdisciplinary exhibition project AMPLIFICATION is a reflection on the way ecological reality reveals itself to us: it is not something external to us, but a tangled network of being that touches our body and mind simultaneously. The project is a direct continuation of Daniel Vlček’s residency in the Venice Lagoon in 2023 and expands to include the work of additional authors and interdisciplinary collaborations. In the initial project during the Venice Biennale 2024, Daniel Vlček explored the concept of the “lagoon” as a symbol of a complex ecological superorganism, where the boundaries between culture and nature intermingle, and daily confrontations arise in the relationship between element and being. This multimedia exhibition, on the boundary between site-specific installations and a scientific laboratory, seeks to simulate natural planetary processes as well as to amplify biological and physical processes that shape the transforming environmental conditions of life in the Anthropocene.

The exhibition .stetinova presents a new series of marble sculptures that engage with the fluidity and symbolism of the river as a metaphor for life’s continuous motion. These works transcend mere representation, embodying a profound and nuanced exploration of the sacred theme of rebirth.

Tereza Štětinová is one of the most original young Czech artists in the field of sculpture, although she graduated in photography from Prague’s FAMU. In her artistic practice, she primarily works with materials such as Carrara marble, alabaster, onyx and wood, which she elegantly combines with steel elements and natural details. Her sculptural works are often composed into thematic groups in the form of installation in a particular space, thus creating elaborate spatial assemblages. The selected
themes include autobiographical elements, childhood memories as well as questions of faith and cultural heritage. The artist also addresses aspects of femininity and motherhood. She is interested both in sacral and profane subjects while using the archetypal vocabulary of nonspecific cultures.

BEYOND THE PHOTOGRAPH: Zenit Hotel
Václav Kopecký, 2012

[…] Zenit Hotel refers to a closed world functioning according to rules of its own. In front of the entrance, flags are flying in a symbolical way, reflecting the past in their colour scheme; without creating a concrete image, the sensitive colour emulsion of the photographic paper depicts the course of the process; in other words, it demonstrates the fact that it is getting old if exposed to light.  Due to the stopping of the endless movement of the sea, what we expect from a depiction of the sea gets lost. The rhythm of sea waves can only be captured in the gap between two photographs; like something that is present although it escapes depiction. […]

Missing chapter
2012
In Alexander Belyayev’s novel Professor Dowell’s Head (1925), a young medical assistantlearnsthat the head of a leading neurobiologist is kept alive artificially in Professor Kern’s laboratory. (The novel alludes to the real story of scientist Sergei Brukhonenko who has developed a method of keeping a dog’s head alive for a short period of time.) Marie performs various routine measurements and later startsnon-verbal communication with professor Dowell’s head by means of facial expressions. Despite her employer’s explicit forbiddance to do so, she opens a certain valve, air starts flowing into the tubes and Dowell’s head starts talking. Dowell and the young assistant talk while more heads keep appearing in the laboratory. The talking head has hada unique experience which provides a clue to the story. After finally revealing all of it, it can die in peace. […]
