Myšlenka uspořádat mezinárodní divadelní festival, který by konfrontoval české a slovenské amatérské divadlo na straně jedné a divadlo ze vzdálenějšího zahraničí na straně druhé, se zrodila mezi členy divadla Lucerna MB v prosinci 1998 při jejich účasti na divadelním festivalu Fiesta! ‘98 ve Venezuele. Od svého počátku probíhal festivalový program v Divadle Na zábradlí, které se stalo stěžejní fes
tivalovou scénou. Účast na festivalu láká rok od roku širší škálu divadel ze stále vzdálenějšího zahraničí.Vedle pestré přehlídky divadelního umění ze všech konců světa nabízí APOSTROF účastníkům i veřejnosti divadelní dílny a off- program.

The idea to organise an international festival of amateur theatres in Prague, which would serve as a confronting space for Czech and Slovakian amateur theatres with theatres from the other side of the world, was born among the members of the Theatre Lucerna MB in December 1998 during their participation on the theatre festival Fiesta! ’98 in Venezuela.The festival took place from the first year in the Theatre Na Zabradli that became the central festival stage. Participation in the festival attracts year by year a wider range of foreign theaters from more and more farther countries. In addition to the colorful parade of theatrical art from all corners of the world, there is prepared interesting associated program (workshops and debates) for both of participants and public.
