Don Giovanni 25th Anniversary (1991 – 2016)

June 7, 2016, the National Marionette Theatre commemorates the 25th anniversary of the

opening night of the ensemble’s most successful play – the marionette version of Mozart’s

opera Don Giovanni, directed by Karel Brožek.

On this day, a performance entitled “Don Giovanni 25 Years Later” will take place with a

ceremonial toast involving all the people who have taken part in the performance over the past

quarter century. There, a new exposition of marionettes will be presented during the

Marionette Museum Český Krumlov – Prague event. A new projection system will be

premiered as part of the Marionette Museum’s program in Prague. (A film on the history of

traditional puppetry in the CR will be shown.) The opening of the new exposition of the

Marionette Museum in Prague is the first contribution to the next 25 years of the existence of

the National Marionette Theatre.
