In the 20th century, European art collectors often faced the threat of confiscation by fascists and communists of their artworks. To mitigate this, collectors often had their artworks painted over to hide the subject and true value of the painting.

In this video, we present an example of an overpainted artwork by Jakub Schikaneder and how InsightART multispectral X-Ray technology helped restorers uncover the original appearance of this painting.

The painting La Crau with a View of Montmajour is a unique example of the use of X-Ray art inspection performed by InsightART. The current owner purchased the image at an auction, where it was listed as a copy after van Gogh.
