As part of the opening of Fotograf Zone Festival ❤️‍🔥 on October 1, you can look forward to a performance by nela.britanakova, Aleuronové Zrno 🌀.

Nela is a visual artist whose practice combines ceramics, spatial installation, movement-based performance, and handmade costumes. She explores the relationship between the body, material, and space and she is also a member of the artist-craft duo .

Aleuronové Zrno 🌀 creates an environment suspended between a past that has not yet disappeared and a future that has yet to arrive. Ceramic objects, textiles, the body, and organic materials come together in a situation somewhere between sculpture, performance, and a living system.

Meet the artists of this year’s Fotograf Zone Festival: Wild Kin, Polina Davydenko

Polina Davydenko is an artist working across photography, video, and installation, combining artistic research, activism, and her personal experience as a war photographer.

As part of this year’s Fotograf Zone Festival, she will present Fragmented Sediments 🐚, a project rooted in her experience as a war photographer.

She works with artificially constructed scenes that function as model landscapes of the contemporary reality of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, raising questions about the boundaries between documentary truth, ethics, and spectacle when depicting human suffering.

Meet the artists of this year’s Fotograf Zone Festival: Wild Kin, Lukáš Prokop

Lukáš Prokop is a multimedia artist and CGI director based in Brno, whose practice explores the relationship between technology, digital tools, and how we perceive the world 🌏.
 His work, Ray-Bearing Vessels Fear The Concavity Of Their Homeworld Geometry grows out of his diploma film Concomitant Outgrowth Event and his ongoing worldbuilding practice.

Its mythology is built around Ambient Occlusion, a 3D rendering principle that here becomes a physical phenomenon: a room corner where an anomalous value generates an excess of space-time. The work’s world revolves around this anomaly and explores attempts to contain and navigate it.

Meet the artists of this year’s Fotograf Zone Festival: Wild Kin, Anetta Mona Chisa

Anetta Mona Chișa is an artist working across sculpture, installation, video, performance, and text. Her practice focuses on materials and their own behaviours, durations, and forms of resistance.

As part of this year’s Fotograf Zone Festival, she will present Helioddity 🫧, a project moving between sculpture, installation, video, and text.

It explores materials that resist fixed forms and considers their agency and how we might think with matter rather than simply about it. The project combines scientific, archival, and linguistic research with poetic speculation, returning to questions of scale, contingency, and the relationship between everyday life and cosmic and geological timescales.

Meet the artists of this year’s Fotograf Zone Festival: Wild Kin, oleksiyradynski

Oleksiy Radynski is a filmmaker and writer based in Kyiv whose work explores documentary forms and political cinema.

As part of this year’s Fotograf Zone Festival, he will present 🎥 Where Russia Ends, an essayistic road movie exploring the overlooked histories of Russian colonialism and environmental destruction in Indigenous territories.

The film draws on archival footage from the Ukrainian Science Film Studio documenting expeditions to Siberia and the Far North in the 1980s.

Where Russia Ends is a collaboration between filmmaker Oleksiy Radynski and researcher Philipp Goll.

Už 3. září otevřeme ve Fotograf Gallery výstavu Afterglow ✨ věnovanou tvorbě Adama Holého.

Při této příležitosti jsme na Fotograf Contemporary vybrali tři jeho díla, která si můžete nově pořídit v podobě autorských printů.

Adam Holý (1974–2016) patřil k nejvýraznějším českým fotografům své generace. Přestože je nejčastěji spojován s módní, reklamní a portrétní fotografií, jeho tvorba tyto hranice vždy překračovala. Jeho fotografie jsou intimní, syrové a výrazné.

A pokud chcete jeho tvorbu vidět na vlastní oči, přijďte už 3. září v 18:00 na vernisáž výstavy Afterglow, která vznikla ve spolupráci s Polansky Gallery do Fotograf Gallery🤍.

Meet the artists of this year’s Fotograf Zone Festival: Wild Kin, Thérèse Anna Rafter 🔥

Thérèse Anna Rafter is an Irish artist and researcher working across image-based media, language, and sculptural installation. Her practice examines how Western visual culture mediates the living world and shapes relationships between humans, animals, and landscapes.

Rafter will present the video installation Hybrid at Tyrš House on Kampa. The work uses archival footage from 2011, originally made mfor scientific research, showing human-bred hybrid falcons pursuing a wild crow.
Footage captured from a camera mounted on the falcon creates a bird’s-eye view that blurs the line between observation and participation.

Meet the artists of this year’s Fotograf Zone Festival: Wild Kin, Dominik Styk 🐦‍🔥

As part of this year’s Fotograf Zone Festival, you can look forward to a work by Slovak artist Dominik Styk, presented at Tyrš House on Kampa. Styk’s practice is informed by his background in scenography and focuses primarily on installation and wearable objects, which he sometimes also uses in performances.

He will present Sterile Eden 🪲, a work exploring the garden as a space of control and discipline, and the broader human desire to keep nature under control. Styk responds to this tendency by creating algae gardens sealed inside bubble wrap and other plastic forms. Each bubble functions as a self-contained ecosystem, separated from the outside world, where nature is isolated, measured, and packaged.

Meet the artists
16th Fotograf Zone Festival: Wild Kin

Fotograf Gallery will present a solo exhibition by Jochen Lempert 🦅, whose photographic practice draws on his background in biology and explores the relationships between humans, animals, plants, and their shared environments.

Titled Sousedé, the exhibition invites us to look beyond the human perspective and pay closer attention to the fleeting encounters and forms of coexistence that surround us every day. Through analogue black-and-white photographs, Lempert creates a delicate constellation of relations between different forms of life.

Galerie FaVU & Fakulta výtvarných umění VUT are inviting artists and curators from the Czech Republic and abroad to submit exhibition projects for Galerie FaVU’s 2027 programme.

The open call is open to individuals, groups, and collectives working in visual and audiovisual art and design and six projects will be selected for the 2027 exhibition season.
