Připomeňme si Jakuba Zichu (17. května 1974 - 31. května 2026) na fotografiích, které vznikly v průběhu let jeho působení na festivalu Praga Cantat. Byl nejen jejím prezidentem, ale zejména v posledních letech také hlavním organizátorem, porotcem, moderátorem, centrální a nepostradatelnou osobností.

We remember Jakub Zicha (17 May 1974 – 31 May 2026) through photographs captured during his many years with the Praga Cantat Festival. He was not only its President, but especially in recent years its driving force — serving as organizer, jury member, host, and an indispensable presence at the heart of the festival.

S velkým zármutkem oznamujeme, že nás navždy opustil Jakub Zicha, dirigent, sbormistr, pedagog, hudební organizátor a prezident festivalu Praga Cantat.

Jakub Zicha byl významnou osobností nejen českého hudebního světa, byl zakladatelem a uměleckým vedoucím souboru Pražští chrámoví sólisté, v letech 2011–2014 asistentem sbormistra Pražského filharmonického sboru. Od září 1999 působil ve funkci uměleckého vedoucího a sbormistra Vysokoškolského uměleckého souboru Univerzity Karlovy. Byl pravidelným členem porot mezinárodních soutěží a věnoval se hudební režii. Od konce roku 2000 pedagogicky působil na Pražské konzervatoři. Od roku 2004 spolupracoval s činohrou Národního divadla v Praze a od roku 2014 s Divadlem Josefa Kajetána Tyla v Plzni.

Od roku 2023 převzal Jakub Zicha organizačně festival Praga Cantat a spolu s dalším žákem prof. Miroslava Košlera, dirigentem a pedagogem Jiřím Petrdlíkem, se rozhodli festival obnovit s novým produkčním týmem.

Čest jeho památce a upřímnou soustrast jeho rodině, přátelům, kolegům i všem pozůstalým. Myslíme na vás v těchto těžkých chvílích. 🕊️

Jakub Zicha
(17 May 1974 – 31 May 2026)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of conductor, choirmaster, educator, music organizer, and President of the Praga Cantat Festival, Jakub Zicha.

Jakub Zicha was a distinguished figure not only in the Czech music scene but also in the wider choral and classical music community. He was the founder and Artistic Director of the Prague Cathedral Soloists and served as Assistant Choirmaster of the Prague Philharmonic Choir from 2011 to 2014. From September 1999, he held the position of Artistic Director and Choirmaster of the Charles University Artistic Ensemble. He was a regular member of juries at international competitions and was also active in music direction and production. From late 2000, he taught at the Prague Conservatory. Since 2004, he collaborated with the Drama Company of the National Theatre in Prague, and from 2014 with the Josef Kajetán Tyl Theatre in Plzeň.

Since 2023, Jakub Zicha has assumed responsibility for the Praga Cantat Festival's organisation and, together with another student of Prof. Miroslav Košler – conductor and educator Jiří Petrdlík – decided to relaunch the festival with a new production team.

We honor his memory and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by his work and life. Our thoughts are with you. 🕊️

Announcing the results, part 2

Saturday evening was, as always, marked by a festive atmosphere, and everyone eagerly awaited the announcement of the results. A five-member jury was responsible for awarding diplomas, trophies, and special prizes. Of course, there was also singing of songs together.

The absolute winner and holder of the title Laureate of Praga Cantat 2025 is, for the first time since 2003, a choir from the Czech Republic: Andromeda Olomouc! 🇨🇿 👏

The evening concluded with the traditional friendly celebration accompanied by music and dancing. 💃🕺

Grand Prix, part 2

Saturday's Grand Prix 🏆 was truly a magnificent culmination of the entire festival. Five choirs from four countries competed in it:
