Polish director Magdalena Ewa Pięta, a graduate of the Directing Department at the National Film School in Łódź, presented her feature debut Clearing at the Prague Film Festival 2026.

The film explores disappearance, loss and mourning through the story of a young mother who leaves her family behind. As those closest to her join the search on the slopes of a sacred mountain, they are gradually forced to confront their own grief and the emotions they have tried to avoid.

Clearing received the Best Cinematography award, which Magdalena Ewa Pięta accepted in person at the festival. Congratulations!

A striking Czech short with a distinctive directorial voice - Dog and Wolf has won Best Czech Short Film at the Prague Film Festival 2026.

Directed by Terézia Halamová, the film continues her exploration of loneliness, growing up, intimacy and the fragile nature of human relationships. A Slovak filmmaker and FAMU graduate, Halamová has already built a strong international profile through both film and music video work.

Her short film Sing for Us premiered at the Kaohsiung Film Festival in Taiwan and went on to receive several awards, including the New Europe Talent Award and Best Cinematography at the Zubroffka Festival, as well as the Jury Award at the International Kinoproba Festival. Her music video Move Honey also won the Jury Prize at the Papaya Young Directors competition and was featured at the Berlin Music Video Awards.

With her feature debut The Hour Between Dog and Wolf, Halamová was selected for KVIFF Talents 2022 and presented the project at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

Congratulations to the team behind Tear Apart, the 1st Place winner of the Anirama Pitching Forum at Prague Film Festival 2026.

Tear Apart is a visually imaginative animated project that combines frame-by-frame animation with fabric-built environments to tell a deeply personal story about love, empathy, and the limits of trying to heal someone else’s wounds. Through the journey of Alma and Omni, the project reminds us that true support often begins with understanding rather than fixing.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the project. We look forward to seeing Tear Apart come to life.

Every great film begins with a story, and this year’s winning short screenplay is proof that powerful storytelling can leave a lasting impression.
Congratulations to Eddy Dépollier, winner of Best Short Screenplay at the Prague Film Festival 2026.

A French filmmaker, cinematographer, editor, and screenwriter, Eddy has been the director of Ellypse Production since 2016. Throughout his career, he has worked across fiction, documentaries, live performances, and music productions, combining directing with cinematography, editing, and sound design.

In 2020, he co-founded the artistic company Les Âmes Silencieuses, dedicated to bringing poetry to life through film, dance, and original stage productions. He also co-directed the poetic short film Passeur d’Ombres, which was selected for several international film festivals.

Alongside filmmaking, Eddy has been teaching cinema workshops in primary schools since 2022, sharing his passion for visual storytelling with the next generation of filmmakers.

Congratulations once again on winning Best Short Screenplay at the Prague Film Festival 2026. We look forward to seeing where your stories take audiences next.

At Prague Film Festival 2026, the award for Best TV Pilot Screenplay was presented to Michael John Fedun (United States) for 12:37 - The King David Hotel.

Michael John Fedun is a producer and screenwriter based in The Hague whose work focuses on character-driven historical and international stories. A graduate of the Netherlands Film Academy and Concordia University in Montreal, he was named a Cannes Producers on the Move.

His producing credits include The Devil’s Double, directed by Lee Tamahori and starring Dominic Cooper, which premiered at Sundance and screened at Cannes and the Berlinale, as well as Emperor, starring Adrien Brody.

His pilot 12:37 — The King David Hotel reflects his ongoing interest in stories that explore systems under pressure and their impact on individual lives.

We were absolutely honored to welcome the incredible actress Aliaksandra Vaitsekhovich at the Prague Film Festival!

She came to represent the powerful film Under the Grey Sky, directed by Mara Tamkovich - which just won the award for Best Feature Film! 🏆✨

This moving film tells the story of a journalist couple fighting to stay true to themselves despite the brutal repressions in Belarus after the 2020 protests. It is deeply inspired by the real life of Katsiaryna Andreyeva, a young journalist who is currently serving an 8-year sentence in a Belarusian prison.

A massive congratulations to the whole team for this well-deserved win and for bringing such a crucial story to the screen. Thank you for your courage and powerful storytelling!
