Klára Kusá .kusa is an artist whose practice draws on strategies of appropriation, experimentation, and material reuse. Influenced by post-war art, philosophy, and research-based methodologies, she engages with found objects and discarded materials to construct layered, site-specific installations. Her work blends photography, drawing, video, bodily movement, and archival traces. Through performative gestures, she intervenes in public and institutional spaces, activating them as platforms for critique and dialogue. By reworking fragments of memory, material, and place, she investigates how trauma shapes perception, language, and social structures, transforming sites of rupture into spaces for reflection and potential healing.

Sasha Kurmaz (b. 1986, Kyiv) is a Ukrainian interdisciplinary artist and activist working with photography, video, installation, sculpture, and sound. Originally emerging from the graffiti scene, he continues to explore public space, social dynamics, and the tensions between citizens and the state. Since Russia’s 2014 invasion of Crimea—and especially after remaining in Ukraine during the full-scale invasion of 2022—Kurmaz has developed a significant body of work addressing the psychology of violence and the lived realities of war. He holds a BFA in design from the National Academy of Managerial Staff of Culture and Arts in Kyiv, where he currently lives and works.

Kurmaz has exhibited widely across Europe, with shows at institutions such as W139, ZKM, C/O Berlin, Künstlerhaus Vienna, the Saatchi Gallery, and the PinchukArtCentre. He has completed international residencies in Austria, Switzerland, Finland, the United States, and Germany. His awards include the C/O Berlin Talent Award (2016) and the Kazimir Malevich Artist Award (2020). His work has been featured in major publications including Vice, Liberation, FOAM, Bloomberg Businessweek, Rolling Stone, Die ZEIT, and Süddeutsche Zeitung.

🚹 BLOK - US | Brad Downey | 29.10 - 01.12.2025 🚹

Brad Downey is a Berlin-based, Kentucky-born conceptual artist. His hyper-diverse approach allows him recognition across multiple art fields. Working across media, he employs spontaneous sculptures, abjected assemblages, unsolicited interventions, silent alterations, and slapstick formalism. By challenging, adapting and manipulating rather than by accepting given forms, norms, and regulations of artistic production, Downey’s rather anti-authoritarian work ventures into uncharted territories and somehow evades an unambiguous definition. In spite of this, his work always evinces a taste for comic anarchy and a love of physical engagement and improvisation.

Artist Talk & Workshop: Untamed Architecture

Zveme vás na prezentaci tvorby Jazoo Yang, která se ve své práci dlouhodobě věnuje vztahu mezi městem, pamětí a tělem. Autorka představí tři projekty – DOTS, Untamed Architecture a Skin of All Things – mapující cestu od dokumentace mizejícího města, přes odolnost přírody v urbanizovaném prostředí, až po znovuobjevování materiální paměti venkova.

Artist Talk & Workshop: Untamed Architecture

We invite you to a presentation of Jazoo’s artistic practice, which has long explored the relationship between the city, memory, and the body. The artist will introduce three projects – DOTS, Untamed Architecture, and Skin of Everything – tracing a journey from documenting disappearing urban spaces, through the resilience of nature within the city, to rediscovering the material memory of the countryside.

The program will begin with the workshop Untamed Architecture: A Street Tour in Prague, where we will step outside together and use a digital microscope to uncover the city’s hidden ecosystems – moss, fungi, and insects surviving in the cracks of pavements and walls. The workshop offers a space for shared reflection on how urban environments are shaped through the coexistence of human and non-human life. The session will be followed by an artist talk in the gallery.

Jazoo Yang (1979) is an artist based in Seoul (South Korea) and Berlin (Germany), enjoying a prolific career spanning Korea and Europe. Yang has attracted attention with her experimental works that traverse the boundaries of various genres, including painting, installation, live painting, public art projects, and street art.

She often distorts public spaces to profound ends. With a mixture of concept-focused art and an intriguing visual palette, she questions the relationship between ourselves and the spaces that we inhabit. Her more recent practice has focused on the transformation of housing in the city and the gentrification that is pushing local residents from their homes. The ‘Materials Series’ is an amalgamation of the diverse, the distant, and the disregarded. Formed of the lost fragments of urban life that she rescues before their inevitable disappearance – remnants of a building’s outer walls, scraps of wallpaper from an interior, the remains of antique tiles – these often silent, ignored objects are here transformed from the mundane, and framed to acknowledge the immensity of the intimate.

Martina Horáková (*1997) is an artist based in Prague. She is currently studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts under the guidance of Josef Bolf, Jakub Hošek, and Nik Timková. In her work, she focuses, among other things, on the visual processing of diary entries, memories, and experiences. In addition to painting, she has also been engaged in graphic design for a long time.

“Zine Diary 2009 captures just under two months of my life – from February to March of that year. I was 11yo and wanted to become the “gossip girl” of our school.
Looking back now, I can say that 2009 was definitely worth it. I created my first Facebook account, my mom finally let me get my ears pierced, the Black Eyed Peas ruled the American charts for half a year straight with hits like Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling, and Barack Obama became the first African American president of the United States.
But for me, it was above all a time of diaries, stickers, keychains, secret friendships, and my first “big” dramas.”

MgA. Lukáš Cinkanič (*1996) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where he studied in the studios of David Böhm, Dalibor Smutný, and Josef Bolf. He also completed an internship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He primarily works with painting on canvas combined with screen printing. He explores the creative environment as an artistic medium, so his artistic expression is not limited to canvas but expands into public spaces.

“I use the medium of painting to renew and convey my memories. I create portals that bring my travel experiences closer to the viewer. The journey itself becomes a creative environment, where I make working records and large-scale paintings on the walls of abandoned houses in industrial landscapes. The specifics of wandering through the landscape confront the other places where I create.”

END TO END. ⛓️‍💥⛓️‍💥💣⛓️‍💥💣⛓️‍💥⛓️‍💥💣⛓️‍💥⛓️‍💥⛓️‍💥⛓️‍💥⛓️‍💥

Wrong in cooperation with Studio AB3 and risograph studio Kudla Werkstatt invites you to last rave in the former coffee roastery above Libeň train station.

The base of the studios here was established in 2014 when the alternative cultural center Trafačka in Vysočany ended. The end of one era marked the beginning of another as part of the people from Trafačka found their new base here. For the first three years, still under the previous owner, three buildings were somewhat illegally occupied. There were a lot of people, water was supplied by a hose, no heating, and electricity was also illegal. It was quite a punkish ride. Several rave events were held here also. Then the new owner came, and the community had to calm down a bit and limit itself to one building – specifically, building AB3. Later, a residency program called Studio AB3 was created there. In recent times, the risograph workshop Kudla Werkstatt found a place here as well. Since the beginning of this decade, many artists have passed through here, and now this era is slowly coming to an end.

Thanks to this interim period alternative culture found its space here, at least for a while. Come and say goodbye to this place with us. May this end open a new era somewhere else. Although there aren’t as many places as there used to be!
