The Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space was established in 1967 to bring the best of Performance Design, Scenography and Theatre Architecture to the front line of cultural activities to be experienced by the professionals as well as the public. The Quadrennial exhibitions, festival and education programs act as a catalyst of creative progress by encouraging experimentation, networking, innovation and future collaborations. PQ aims to honor, empower and celebrate the work of the designers, artists and architects as well as inspire and educate our audiences without whom our work wouldn't make sense.
The Prague Quadrennial received the EFFE award 2015 - 2016 as one of the most trend-setting European festivals.
Since 1967 Prague Quadrennial strives to present performance design as an art form concerned with creation of active performance environments, that are far beyond merely decorative or beautiful, but that are emotionally charged, where design can become a quest, a question, an argument, a threat, a resolution and an agent of change… Performance design is a collaborative field where the artists mix, fuse and blur the lines between various art and other disciplines to search for new approaches and new visions.
The Prague Quadrennial has been organizing wide variety of international projects and activities in time between the main quadrennial events - performances, exhibitions, symposia, workshops, residencies and many educational events to serve as an international platform for exploring the practice, theory and education of contemporary performance design/scenography as an expanded field.
Prague Quadrennial 2015 took place June 18 - 28, 2015 in over 60 indoor and outdoor places and venues in the center of Prague. It included over 600 live events and over 150 expositions during the course of 11 days and presented scenography, costume, sound, lighting and costume design work from 78 countries. Prague Quadrennial had 180 000 visits and over 6000 accredited professionals. Over 1300 students from all over the world took part in workshops and performances by students.
The Prague Quadrennial 2015 had a record-breaking number of visits, due to enormous program as well as the great advantage of its new location in the city centre and its streets: 180 000 from Czech Republic and abroad, spectators included 6000 professionals and students from 90 countries – scenographers, visual artists, educators, theorists, directors, festival directors, organizers, journalists; as well as wide cultural audiences from the Czech Republic or tourists from entire world.
PQ creates the platform for 8 000 theatre professionals and students.
Pražské Quadriennale scénografie a divadelního prostoru je největší světová akce, která zkoumá oblast scénografie v celé její šíři – od scénického umění, přes kostýmní, světelný a zvukový design až po nové scénografické přístupy, jako site specific, aplikovaná scénografie, pouliční performance, kostým jako performance a mnohé další.
Pražské Quadriennale obdrželo prestižní evropskou cenu EFFE 2015-2016 jako jeden z 12 nejprogresivnějších evropských festivalů.
Už od roku 1967 Pražské Quadriennale každé čtyři roky mapuje a představuje nejnovější trendy scénografie i architektonické práce s divadelním prostorem.
Pražské Quadriennale mimo svou hlavní událost připravuje také jiné kulturní projekty – výstavy, sympozia, workshopy, vzdělávací akce, residence a produkuje představení s cílem vytvořit mezinárodní platformu pro teoretický i praktický rozvoj současné scénografie v jejím rozšířeném pojetí.
Pražské Quadriennale 2015 se konalo od 18. do 28. června 2015 na více než šedesáti místech v centru Prahy. Jeho součástí bylo přes 600 živých performancí a více než 150 výstav, na kterých během jedenácti dní představilo svá díla z oblasti scénografického, kostýmního, zvukového a světelného designu 78 různých zemí. Jednotlivé akce a projekty Pražského Quadriennale 2015 shlédlo 180 000 diváků včetně 6000 akreditovaných profesionálů. Studentských workshopů a performancí se pak zúčastnilo přes 1300 studentů z celého světa.
Pražské Quadriennale 2015 překonalo rekord v počtu návštěvníků, a to nejen díky rozmanitosti rozsáhlého programu, ale také díky výhodné nové lokaci v centru Prahy. Návštěvnost PQ dosáhla 180 000 českých i zahraničních diváků včetně 6000 profesionálů a studentů z 90 zemí světa. Jednalo se jak o scénografy, výtvarníky, pedagogy, teoretiky, režiséry, ředitele festivalů, organizátory, novináře, tak i o široké publikum z České republiky a turisty z celého světa.
PQ vytváří platformu pro setkání až 8000 divadelních profesionálů a studentů.
