What to do in the in-between? What to do with an unfinished conversation? With an unwritten story, an unresolved conflict, or yet another vague “take care, let's keep in touch”? Something has to happen, but it won't happen now. It's time to put your work down and wait. The idea of how the story continues has been disrupted. Leaving you locked in a spasm of anticipation and assumptions. Suddenly, this cliffhanger doesn't feel so exciting.
What happens in the interval between “to be continued…” and the start of the next episode? What do we feel after an overwhelming experience? What will happen tomorrow?
Which moments deserve a pause and a breath? Can we embrace being unfinished?
We no longer want to endure the anxiety of waiting for promises of stability, justice, and returns. Nothing has truly ended. Something will happen here, as well as where we are not right now. Everything keeps flowing, and just because we aren't paying attention to something doesn't mean it stays the same. Returning isn't stepping into a frozen point in time. It is discovering the transformed state of ourselves and the world around us.
With the 6th edition of PLÁCEK, we want to focus on experiencing the flow of time and our own inner states, without explicit conclusions. We want to center on the feelings and events that never reach long-awaited catharses and rarely unfold the way we might expect. We wish to look away from visions of guaranteed happy endings and instead stay open to never-ending continuations—even if nothing turns out the way we imagined.
But something will happen… for sure!
