Ηosted my very last workshop in Treis Elies last week. I loved living here ( and also hated it at times) as it allowed me-among other things- to experiment, learn from nature and live slowly. I am very thankful for funding from the Deputy Ministry of Tourism , which allowed me to share my love for natural dyes with people of diverse backgrounds and ages.
Making some big transitions in the next weeks but stay tuned for more workshops and a couple of special projects in the future🪻

This Sunday is one of only TWO natural dye workshops I will be doing this summer and there are some spots left. We will be dyeing silk with local plants and making herbal sachets. It's free and suitable for all 5 years and older.

I will be leaving dreamy Treis Elies after this summer and I think you should come and spend some time with me, learning about this amazing craft before I pack my studio up. I will go over dyes and mordants, easy dye materials you can find here in Cyprus and more.

Our next FREE workshop is all about herbal sachets! Let's talk local herbs (our own) and some of the ways they can improve our lives. Oh also: let's do some sewing🦋🕸🍃

I have stacks and stacks of fabric scraps and it all needs to go. So let's turn them into simple, beautiful herbal sachets for your home. No sewing experience required and ages 5 and up should be able to participate with possibly needing just a little bit of help.

10-12, in beautiful Treis Elies as always.

14/7 Making Herbal Sachets for the whole family*

All workshops are at 10-12 am, except for 11/8 and 14/8 when the workshop will be held from 4.30-6.30

* 1.during which we will be dyeing fabric with local plants and use it to make an herbal sachet filled with our homegrown lavender or rosemary

*2. During which we will create designs on fabric using simple tools such as markers and diy stamps and sew our own herbal sachet. This is perfect for families with children ages 5+ but anyone can participate

Preschoolers are by far my favourite group of people so naturally I was thrilled to be invited to Νερομπογιες ΚΑΙ Χρωματα to talk about and play with natural dyes. The kids are learning all about the forest so I brought my big jar of oak galls and some acorns and of course my very witchy 🧙old copper pot. We ground up the oak galls, cooked them with some acorns and oak leaves and did some magic💥 to turn the brown juice into purplish- black juice. Then we tied our fabric and dyed it with this color-gift of the forest. Oh and the kids did some drawing with special acorn ink. A very fun morning!

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to visit the acient mine at Mathiatis and hear a highly informative talk by archaeologist .christoforou on the site's ancient and modern histories as well as her community's fight against recent efforts to re-open the mine. I got to share some of my thoughts and knowledge on living color, dyes and pigments with a diverse, bicommunal group of artists, curators and environmentalists. It was hot as hell but I am so thankful to .araouzou and for inviting me.

P.S. I am always looking to connect to others who have an interest in and knowledge about mineral pigments and their place in Cypriot history. Putting it out there🙂 🌌
