Kids Clay Club at The Makers Space on Saturday, 11 July. Continuing with our theme Nature, the children aged between 5 and 12 learned about the sun, and then created their very own creative impressions of the sun using stoneware clay from Spain and a wonderful opportunity to learn about nature, create in 3D, learn to express ourselves and workmen developing pottery techniques, design and further development motor skills. So proud of our young Clay Clubbers.

Well Done to our young creatives. We are now looking forward to applying color and finishing our handmade suns.

My Mantra..... You can't test enough in ceramics

Test tiles are one of the most valuable tools in ceramic art / pottery.

Test tiles may be small, but they are one of the most important tools in a ceramic studio, helping us to learn, experiment and adventure with color. You might be surprised with an unexpected result that brings a real 'wow' to your work.

Meet Millie, curled up in a bowl, every studio needs a cat curled up in a bowl. She arrived at the studio two months ago, I do believe she has adopted us.

We continue our Nature Adventure in July, Clay Club @ The Makers Space in Tala.

In July we will be learning about 'The Sky'. Our first lesson on Saturday, 4th July - Clouds. Our young creatives each created a cloud board game, 'Tic Tac Toe', we learned about clouds, how they form, why we need them, why are they important and how beautiful and different each type of cloud is.

Well Done to all our children aged between 5 and 11 years.

Our June Project, focusing on Nature - Land is complete. Well Done to our Young Clay Club Children, we have Mouflon, Grapes and Cyprus Maps, all created from stoneware clay, final firing to 1222 Deg C and amazing results.

Our young creatives did well.

We are now focusing on Sky for our July 2026 Project. Saturday Mornings at The Makers Space in Tala. 9am and 11am Sessions. Children aged 5 years to 12 years.

When Children Clay.

Our Clay Club Children at The Makers Space.

Our June project, the second step in our 'Sea-Land-Sky' Semester. We worked with the children to create a ceramic map of Cyprus, a sculpted Mouflon (wild sheep of Cyprus) and a bunch of grapes in a slab.

All projects during Clay Club in June focused on hand building using different techniques. We focused on fine motor skills and learning about Cyprus and the geography.of the island, it's location in Europe, coastline, mountain range, also the elusive Mouflon and the grapes that are used to create the world famous Commandaria Wine. The oldest named wine in the world still in production, with the specific variety of grapes and history dating back over 2000 years.

Last Saturday was a glazing session for the children's pieces, and the kiln is now loaded for final firing to 1222 Deg C. Collection this weekend.

Well Done to our Clay Club Children. We are so proud of what you have all achieved during this semester.
