As we prepare for the next edition of the CIPCYF – CinePoems Cyprus Festival, we would like to look back at the 13 selected videopoems of 2025.

No first, second, or third prizes were awarded. All 13 selected films were winners.

The 1st CinePoems Cyprus Festival received more than 300 submissions from around the world. For a small festival with a minimal budget, presenting videopoetry for the first time in Cyprus, this overwhelming response far exceeded our expectations.

The following 13 videopoems were selected and screened on 16 October 2025 at ARTos House, Nicosia:

• Ναυτία / Nausea (Greece, 2024) – Eirini Chatzi

• From the Wind (Germany, 2022) – Jörn Staeger

• Making Space for Nature (United Kingdom, 2022) – Ian George Sciacaluga

• Los Caballos están tristes / When Horses are Sad (Spain, 2021) – Eduardo Yagüe

• The Way of Red (Iran, 2025) – Asghar Besharati (Student Project)

• The Pelican of the Wilderness (Germany/Italy, 2015) – Maria Korporal

• Nothing Blooms (Algeria, 2024) – Mourad Hamla

• Ψ – A Story About Mental Health (Cyprus/Greece, 2025) – Giannos Kousiappas (Student Project)

• Circle / Κύκλος (Greece, 2016) – Stavros Makridis

• Sur le Promontoire Oublié (“On the Forgotten Promontory”) (Spain/Morocco/France, 2023) – Blas Payri

• My Self Portrait (Argentina, 2023) – Muriel Sago

These films brought together artists from Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America, demonstrating the diversity, creativity, and poetic power of videopoetry today.

The open call for the 2nd edition of CinePoems Cyprus Festival 2026 will be announced in June through FilmFreeway.

2026 Theme:
TIME – FLOWS OF TIME

CinePoems Cyprus Festival, part of the Poetry Moves International Festival, invites poets, filmmakers, video artists, and performers from around the world to explore the dialogue between poetry and moving image.

The CinePoems screening event will take place in October 2026 at ARTos House.

We would be delighted to welcome both new participants and returning artists from the previous edition, whose inspiring works left a lasting impression on our audience.

Την Παρασκευή 05.12 στις 20:00, στην εκπομπή #ΗμερολόγιοΚαταστρώματος στο #ΔεύτεροΠρόγραμμα, η Έλενα Διάκου θα φιλοξενήσει στο στούντιο τον πιανίστα και συνθέτη Σταύρο Λάντσια και θα μιλήσουν για την κυκλοφορία του καινούριου του άλμπουμ με τίτλο "Waving Hands", αλλά και για τις εμφανίσεις του στον Φιλολογικό Σύλλογο «Παρνασσός» στις 20&21 Δεκεμβρίου.
