On 16 June, EUNIC Cyprus members gathered to discuss the exciting cultural events and initiatives planned for the coming months.

A special highlight of the meeting was the presence of Captain Morneros, the pilot who landed the last flight at Nicosia Airport before the events of 1974. We were honoured to hear his reflections on this important chapter of Cyprus' history.

The meeting also featured a presentation by Mr. Alexis Sofocleous, Project Lead of the Trident 5B-DAB Preservation Project. The initiative seeks to save the historic aircraft from further deterioration and transform it into a Bicommunal Heritage Museum at Nicosia Airport—a space dedicated to preserving shared memories and fostering understanding between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities.

As part of the series, the Embassy of Italy in Cyprus invites you to the screening of the film “Zamora” (2023), directed by Neri Marcoré.
